In general I did notice the vasari start off a bit weaker than the other two races. It seems like the tec and advent caps can handle the start by themselves, allowing me to split up the frigates to do other things. With the vasari, I have to have a cap plus frigates to take some planets and hold off pirates. Maybe it's just me on that one though.

maybe they should set a logistics cap per gate, as in you can't have more dark armada from this gate until some of the fleet from that same gate is destroyed. Of course, that would kind of turn the gates into big hangars.

Just an idea, but what do yall think of having upkeep scaled to the size of your fleet (as in adding more ships raises the percentage of revenue lost to upkeep, making it possible, but detrimental to have huger fleets) and the logistics research would decrease the percent effect the ships would have on how much upkeep needs to be paid? I've never had to look into this, but currently, once a logistics level is researched, you can't scale down the army to a lower logistic level, thereby c

With the culture, can you overpower an enemy planet that has an orbiting culture station and knock it to neutral despite having the station in orbit?

Yall are right, they don't summon the armada if the remaining logistics isn't enough to summon. I think Horazon is somewhat correct about summoning from pre-built gates. I think when the research is done for the gates to summon, and it sets them to autosummon automatically, the timer for all gates is set to the same moment, and don't take into account other gates summoning at the exact same time. I personally love the dark armada ability because, hey, free fleet in a matter of secon

The autocast function really is a nuisance if forgotten about, which I have a knack of doing. I don't like the fact it can take logistics into the negatives instantly. Does anybody know what the stopping point is for that? I've had it up to -81 before. It sucks when (god forbid) one loses a cap ship and it's logistics is automatically taken by one of the gates one forgot to turn off, but easily remedied.

It seems to me the phase missiles are all sorts of goodness, especially against advent. Advent caps are usually 2 hull per 3 shield, with a starting ship a little more than 2000/3000. If you have full phase (30%?) plus the special vasari ship that gives the 20% bonus you end up with roughly 50% for missiles (unless those don't stack, awkward...). If it's half to shields, half to hull, you need to do 4k (2k to hull, 2k to shield to make up the other 50%) damage, which is 1k less than you would

I wasn't questioning your strategy skills there, I was joking around. Hence the reason for what I thought would be taken as a tenacious D tie in.

Real alien men use mind bullets. Are you saying that the TEC's massive economy does not hinder your shield capabilities? That's unfortunate. Let me know when you face the 2 TEC supercannon + scout tactic. It's fun.

Is there something wrong with being a missile hack? I thought that was one of the general strategy for the vasari. Leaving it out kind of limits them.

Seriously, more pie... When the pirates leave a system, do they go back to the pirate base and chill like the villains they are? I've had numerous late game excursions into pirate territory where I warp in and there are seven+ raiding groups sitting around, drinking tea or whatever pirates do in their spare time. I don't think I ever see the pirate hostility decrease, even if nobody is putting up bounties. Is it supposed to go down over time?

The vasari gravity bomb would be awesome if it was more than twelve seconds. The nanites ability is incredible though; -5 armor and damage over time.

Doesn't the TEC light frigate have sabotage? I don't think it drains the antimatter, just hurts the target when they use it.

If you're playing the computer, you can usually just set up the guns to do a massive amount of damage clumped up together. Still, I usually go for bombers, they upgrade with the rest of the ships. A fully upgraded TEC bomber squad is just nasty. Fifteen of them makes it incredibly risky to enter the area. If you're going up against another human being, definitely need to go all bombers. With Vasari, you can use 10 tactical slots for the stabilizer, and have a single defense

I agree with mnikkel. I usually reserve all slots for front line planets for hangars or turrets. fully upgraded tec gauss cannons set properly, or the advent hangars crewed with three wings will chew through small groups of ships. Two hangars won't do it on front line planets, it's just not enough firepower.

I for some reason have never had the bubble of doom problem with the defenders. I do have a rather shitty graphics card that can't display anything properly. Maybe it just gave up having the bubbles. Yay for stone age hardware I guess.

All the colonize caps have that I believe. TEC certainly does. I usually go five lights, one colony, then extractors, cap factory, then the colony battlecruiser for TEC. This allows me to get my lights and colony out to colonize asteroids (they usually can't take the welcoming party at planets) and let my cap capture the planets I understand what BRN is saying about the colony caps, but the tec one has the disabling special to keep ships from running away, as well as accuracy incre

What? You're a dirty dirty individual, Rec... I feel sorry for you and your children. The thing about the advent is that their specials are so very potent compared to the other two. I'm still trying to figure out what TEC is especially good at (besides making money, rich bastards). I wish something extraordinary stood out for the other two that was on par with defenders and their networking ability that forced the others to look out and prepare for the strategies that come

The graphical glitch is a tough issue, but if you can see and target, then you're good. The mitigation doesn't stack, at least I don't think it does, so you're only ever dealing with a 33% defender mitigation. In my weeklong experience, the TEC has enough firepower to make up for whatever is given to the defenders, and the armor of an advent is too weak to handle grouped vasari with phase ability. I'm also talking about armies of equal logistics. If you're holding on to two 50 poin

58 Replies 32,276 Views

I think the only thing that really works is to hit them hard, make sure that without the 33% you're still winning. Vasari Always have the phase missiles, TEC has, I guess, sheer brute force to overpower shields. Don't have your abilities on autocast, use your heavy hitting abilities all at once on the mothership to hopefully knock it out of the battle, and you keep them from refreshing the shields.

The developers will tell you when you're older... let's just pretend a stork drops them off for now. Annatar is right, though I think it might only be tactical slot upgrades, one per upgrade. I might be wrong about that. I think it's about a minute to replace.
