Since we haven't had a response from the developers since this thread was initially started, I sent a PM to Blair myself. Anyone else experiencing the "Slow down" bug. please take a moment and explain what's happening. I would like to bring this thread to the devs attention, if I don't receive a reply from Blair Fraser, then the next step will be to start emailing IronClad & Stardock as well. one or two rants can be written off & ignored, but the more people th

[BUMP] If anyone else is experiencing the "Slow down/Crawl" Bug Please post here: https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/341237 And send an email to Ironclad. So this issue can be addressed sooner rather than later..
Or are to busy working to read EVERY forum thread....
You just can't keep your mouth shut, can you?
Lets see you write something that is MORE optimised then what they have presented!!! BTW - what programming experience do you have? You know. So we can judge if you are qualified to make the statement!!!
Assembler, pascal, fortran, basic,c, ,function blocks, html, python, java, .net + a lot more. Ballocks!! I've tried this game on 3 different systems now.. Same crap.. Read the entire thread. https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/341237 windows is stripped down, no a/v.. all those tweaks are childs-play.. the games code needs to be optimised.. Bottom line.
[BUMP] Hey devs Lets not pretend this is an issue that can be forgotten about & swept under the rug.. It's real, it's annoying, it's not going away! Can we get a response, or at the very least an acknowledgement here or what??
I think it's fair to say that, no one wants to upset the devs & everyone that comes to these forums loves SoaSE. The game is a masterpiece. I've really really tested this issue, and on more than one machine now, one has: An Intel core 2 duo 2.8 GHZ CPU, 4 GB RAM (DDR2-800), Nvidia 8800gt 320MB Video card, running Windows XP The other is an: AMD X2 6000 3.0 GHZ CPU, 2 GB RAM (DDR2-800), ATI X1950 512MB Video card, running Windows XP
Same problems.. different thread. https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/341237
Obviously this a reoccuring theme with this game with Entrenchment installed... https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/341791 "> Same problem, different thread.
It's not a CPU issue. The AMD X2 6000 runs @ 3.0ghz per core and has 2MB L2 cache. I realize sins doesn't take advantage of having multiple cores at it's disposal, but the 3.0 GHZ & 2MB l2 cache should handle this app with no problems. Prior to the Entrenchment update it ate this game for breakfast. The AMD X2 6000 is not a bottlenecker, and never has been. I will agree that it's not the, "Newest." technology available, but it certainly can hold it's own, and works
[Bump] C'mon this issue needs to be addressed
Ok, I can confirm that lowering all graphics settings, turning off bloom, and sound does not work or help improve performance.. I played two large maps with my self & 7 AI players on unfair random to put your suggestions to the test Blair. Both for a few hours. The threshold point when the lag sets in, starts around when every player has about 5 planets.. It's all down hill from there. If I pause the game. i can navigate without issue.</
I'm well versed with XP, how the registry works, the real in's & out's of the windows O/S. I used to program on the Commodore 64 in assembler & basic. I Build, repair, network, trouble-shoot PC's since around when the 286 was the king, So I've been doing this a while ;) I think my feedback would be solid on the issue. The release of the Entrenchment beta 3 is when the sutturering and lag started becoming an issue; however, Entrenchment 1.0 showed improvement with the
I too am having issues with lag with Entrenchment.. Seems to happen to me after about an hour or so on a large map. It is really, really annoying.. Never happened prior to the Entrenchment update. I also get minor lag on medium size maps after about an hour. System: Windows XP SP3 CPU: AMD X2 6000 RAM: 2gig DDR2 - 800 Hard Drive: 2 Wester digital Raptors 10,000k drives set-up in a RAID 0 config Video: 2 ATI 512MB X1950's in
I too had issues installing the new version. Seems like a few reg keys need to be cleaned out between the uninstallation and reinstallation. There is a utility tool app that I have been using for years now called "tuneup utilities" I ran the 1 click maintenance after uninstalling sins. installed sins & entrenchment again.. Worked like a charm. Proggy really helps maintain windows xp's registry. Hope this helps
C'mon! I'm getting crazed about this new Beta! Where is it?? Why make the announcement & then make us wait, because the update isn't posted up on Impulse. I just uninstalled Sins & Entrenchment for nothing.. I'm anxious to play today, I Just bought a new 24" monitor & replaced the heatsink on my second x1950 so my crossfire setup works again. But I don't want to start a big map before Beta 3 is posted. Sins is one of the only games I play often
Entrenchment is great so far. I've run into many of the common bugs (Adjucator not firing after save & reload) during play But the issue that's killing me is that when I play the game on any size map - about an hour into it as the number of ships & objects grows - the game slows down to crawl. No crashes, BSOD's or Minidumps yet & I've played about 12 hours total, maybe more. But the slow-down is god awful. Hit us with a hot-fix or something! Never
I can't imagine what the issue is - bcz I still cant get mods to work there are no other user accounts on my machine my experience with systems & windows xp is pretty deep so if it was something silly - I probably would have been able to figure it out already. my installation of windows xp is pretty bare bones & most non-essential services are turned off in order to maximize performance on my rig. The one thing I thought might have been causing the issu
Yeah - thats the options screen & yes I just the default administrator account. Thx.
I have the same issue: Sins is updated to 1.05 I d/l'ed the & deadly sins mod to: C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Mods The "Mods" folder wasnt there. So I simply created it. Inside the "Mods" folder is another folder named "7sins" which contains several folders (Gameinfo, Mesh, particle, etc.) When I boot up & go to options > mods nothings there :( There's
