I'd have to say that it all depends on what kind of technological advances we make. There have been enough people above me claiming that the following WILL be the case: - stealth will not be possible - everyone will use instant kill weapons(like nukes) - planets can't be defended because they can't move - And other such claims I say this is complete speculation and based on nothing but current technology & research and looking to the past.
