In the game we played the pirates worked well. You could predict how much bounty it took to get them to go after someone. bombers seem a bit to strong but it could have been a fluke in a fight between 4 kols at levels 1 and 2, 10 colbolts and 5 flak frigs it was a fight to the end going up against 22 bombers and 7 colbolts.
