A minor correction, maybe it's been pointed out but I don't feel like reading all 45 pages to find out, but not all 32-bit applications are limited to 2GB addressable space. In proper 32-bit OS it's possible to increase the limit to 3GB via a command line. And 64-bit OS supports a special flag called "large address aware" that increases the limit to the full 4GB for a given application.
