I have the latest beta installed. Just installed it three days ago. Though I've been having the same problem with the launch icon since the first 1.7 beta.

On my desktop, the Dark Avatar icon isn't showing properly. It just shows the windows default icon. When I go to the icon's properties, I get an error message that says 'cannot locate DALaunch.ico' The game still works if I double click on it, but my PC cannot locate the DALaunch icon, and so is just using the windows default icon for Dark Avatar.

whenever my desktop refreshes, the GCII:DA icon switches to the white unknown/default icon. Refreshing my desktop again doesn't turn it back into the GCII:DA icon. I have to restart my computer in order to get the DA icon back.

I'd be up for one more expansion. I'd like to see an expanded UP and more diplomatic options, as well as have some new random events/colonization events, and have it where the player can choose between if he'd rather build the most advanced building of a certain type or one of the less advanced buildings of that same type.

In Dread Lords, I remember there was a way you can destroy your own buildings if you decided you wanted to free up the space for a different building, cut down your maintenance costs a little, or to replace two basic factories with one improved factory. I can't seem to find how to do that in Dark Avatar. Am I still able to destroy buildings in Dark Avatar? If so, how do I do it? Do I need to research a technology first in order to do it? Thanks.

Instead of having it where players can only buy the most advanced model of each building/improvement that they've researched, I think it would be great if there was an option players could turn on and off, where if turned on, players would be able to select from every build/model that they've researched for every building/improvement.

I didn't even know 1.4 was available yet. It isn't showing up on my Stardock Central, and yes I have 'show pre-release versions' enabled.

In GalCiv 1, you had the option of paying or receiving x amount of bc for y months, in addition to the current lump sum payment option. I really liked that payment option, because it gave me the chance to spread the bc i received from trading out if i needed so much per month for awhile to stay out of the red. I was wondering if Stardock could put this bc payment option into their Dark Avatar expansion pack. Thanks.

Here are a few interesting ideas that should've been put here in Dark Avatar forum, but ended up in Gametalk instead: 1. Also would like spies to be able to slander your party. You would get a message pre election saying that your party is rocked with scandal. You would get stats on how it will effect your popularity in next months elections. 2. Random events changing the political structure of your race 3. Along with enemy spies being able to harm your electi

1. The ability to use player-created non-cheating/non-cheese event mods in MetaVerse games. 2. The ability to put outdated/obsolete buildings on tiles, if a player decides he doesn't want the latest & greatest type of that building on that tile/planet just yet.

I just want to see random event creation programs and user-created random events, like there was for GalCiv 1. From what I've heard though, nearly everyone cares more about MetaVerse games these days, as opposed to GC1, where random events were created and used constantly and were very popular. I don't know if they were allowed in MV games in GC1 or not, but random event mods were quite fun and popular back in GC1 days. Today, it seems if it isn't allowed in MV games, no one w

A simple solution, imo, is to only allow approved mods to be used in MetaVerse games. As I understand it, you and a few others do the mod approving? You could just use user-created random/colonization even mods in non-MetaVerse games and use your best judgement as to whether certain mods are cheat mods or legit mods, and then approve the ones that are legit mods, and not approve the ones that are cheat mods. I wouldn't ask you to spend your whole time doing it, just 2-3 non-metaverse

I would like to request that most, if not all, random event and colonization event mods that are made and submitted to the Library please be both approved and be allowed to be used legally in all MetaVerse games without a flag being raised. I request this because as it is now, no random events or colonization events or being modded, and no modding utility has even been made to enable people to even make random or colonization events to be made. From what I have heard, this is beca

I'd like to be able to choose to build obsolete buildings if I wanted to. I think it'd add some more depth and strategy to the game, and to planet management in particular. I know StarDock would have to find a good to let the AI use it effectively, but Brad's pretty good at figuring stuff like that out, I'm confident he could do it well.

I'd assume that all depends on if Brad can get the AI to do a good enough job to be challenging in a Tactical battle, and keep it for being just some easy way for a player to win every battle he's ever in. I'd also assume if Brad decided to do Tactical battles, he'd include either or both a set-up option that you could check if you didn't want tactical battles, and/or an auto-resolve button you could push that would quickly resolve any tactical battle for you, in a way that doesn't al

Anyone planning on making a random events editor mod, like there was for GalCiv 1? In it you could create your own random events and colonization events, make three different choice options for each event, and set what kind of bonuses and penalties came with whatever choice you selected.
