Yep, that fixed it. I wonder why Ironclad hasn't updated the ForgeTools to match the patch? I had assumed it was because none of the patch changes impacted what was in the reference data. Thanks Harpo99999!

I've been doing a small amount of modding for Sins Entrenchment, and now after my latest round of changes, the game freezes my computer when I start Sins up. Nasty. If I disable the mod, the game runs fine. Obviously, it doesn't like something I changed in the mod, but I'd rather not have to use trial and error to figure out what's gone wrong. Is there any log file or anything I can look at (or a command line to make it generate one) to give me
Try playing online...There are a lot of people who would be happy to introduce a newbie to the game, including myself. If that doesn't float your boat, there are custom "campaignesque" maps made by players, and a lot of people seem to get a lot of enjoyment out of them. Also, there are mods that you should check out. I really feel like you're so set on only enjoying the game in one certain way that you're overlooking different means to the same end. Don't be so stubborn.
I
Last I checked, skirmish involves one player, otherwise known as single player. As for satisfactory experience, I'm satisfied. But that's just my opinion I suppose.
Yes, I agree: skirmish IS single player. You are satisfied with what it offers and I am not - it's a matter of opinion, as you say. CommanderAdama was basically saying I should have known that there was NO single player in SoaSE and thus I have no right to complain about lousy single player s
Wait for the expansion pack....You bought the game knowing it didn't have a single player, and if you didn't, that's not stardock's fault.
No, I knew it didn't have a campaign. That's different than not having single player and being a multiplayer-only game. SoaSE was not pitched as multiplayer-only. They pitched it that SoaSE was 4X enough and big/epic enough not to need a campaign, because you'd carve your own history in the same way as a

In my last game, I was seeing plenty of rebel attacks on planets that had no outside culture affecting them: Basically, I had 2 of the 3 solar systems completely owned and was working on coquering the last. I was playing with a mod that made orbital improvements cheap slot-wise, so each of my planets had several media/comm things, and every phase lane in my owned star systems was my color. I also had all the culture-techs reserached (playing Vasari) And yet, I was still regul

FYI: In the first paragraph of the 4th bullet of the article, you write: "But it isn't not the driving reason for lost sales." This is a double negative and means it IS the driving reason for lost sales.

OK, the thing is, in my current game, I'm not seeing allegiance drop at all on the planets getting hit, and I'm certainly not getting the "eyes of the converted" effect. (I'm maxed out tech-wise, so I have all the culture techs) If I saw the allegiance dropping, and it gave me a view on their planets, that'd be something useful at least. But nothing seems to be happening.

I think culture flipping of planets - especially neutral ones - would work - it doesn't have to be an immediate thing, it could take a while to flip. That works out pretty well in GalCiv2. The problem I have is that on maps with a lot of uncolonizable nebulas, gas giants, etc or with long space lanes, culture spread is very very slow/limited - even with all the boosting techs.

I haven't paid much attention, since I'm not having performance problems, but it could very well be that the game wasn't written to be multithreaded to take advantge of multiple CPUs. Any given program will not automatically use multiple CPUs unless it was written to take advantage of them. Hardly any old games do so, and still not all do. On my system, (Intel C2D E6700, 8800GTX, 3GB, X-Fi, Vista Ultimate 32-bit, 1600x1200, all settings highest), I just loaded a game and watched my fl
My impression is that Tom Chick either loves a game or he hates it. Doesn't mean he has the same taste as everyone else. IIRC he called Moo3 a pig when the big review sites were praising it, so I do read his reviews as sometimes he gets it right when others don't, but nobody is infallible. SOTS is currently my favorite game - among many favorites <IMG id=ImageResize_Image_2 src="http://images.stardock.com/smiles/Smile.gif" onload=ImageResizer.createOn(this); align=absMiddle border=0 tries
