What's your guys' idea of a good aproval rating? It sounds like your trying to hard to make everyone happy and not sending them off in transports to kill things.

The Archeans are generally pretty nice to me actually. Played three games. The ones that I hate are the Altarians, those guys suck. Need to play more games to be sure it's not just chance though. I generally have a neutral alignment, strong economy, and smallish military.
I think it's more to simulate that your career soldier Admiral and his cronies are'nt going to risk their soon to be pensioneer hienies. It also probably makes the targeting system work, enemies target the ship with the highest attack to defence ratio. The flagship is the last boat you want to go so if it has no weapons it won't be targeted. This simulates tactics withought tactics, the other ships would be protecting the flagship. It's the result of the limitation of having no tactical comb
Huh, Advanced Wars works fine on the DS. Turn based is doable but I think that publishing on a game consul, handheld or otherwise involves forking over a lot more controll and percentage of the profits than PC.
Hotseat is when you take turns at the same computer, switching in and out of the same chair presumably.
I'm abroad with only a laptop. Thank you. Civ4 is a great game but it has no right to be as demanding as it is, I could only play on smaller maps and the farther you get the longer the turns take to generate. I felt really bad paying for that game, like they decided to ignore part of their audience (a major part from what I've heard) to write Ghandi's diologue. Thank you Stardock, and if you see Sid, kick him in the nuts please.

Huh, religion is pretty dope as a motivating force for genocide, thats for sure. I kinda like the Drengin orientation though, evil but only to the extent the situation allows, allmost amoral. Makes them more evil becuase they kill and don't care. I'll probably play as them the most, maybe give them a black gotee and tweak the racial traits for a strong economy. The Space Ital -I mean Drath are neat too but they don't look as cool as the Dregnin. Dregnin look like Dr. Zaius after a bad divor
I saw the film yah, like the man says it's a wireframe deathstar looking thing. They probably have it but won't give it to us until they have time to balance it and tell the AI how/when to use it. If you have radtools you can watch it, its in galciv2\movies\tech Seems like it would be useful for breaking late game stalemates
There is a tech movie called terrorstar in the preload. Apparently it is there.
Telling ships to patroll risky areas along the route is pretty realistic. I don't know about in the game but having a significant military force shadow a single freighter probably wouldn't be practical logisticaly.
For good luck I like to give my ships names like Bismark, Maine, and Wasa When I upgrade I do the british fighter plane thing (Spitfire MkI MkII etc.) I also tend to name ships after oligarthic take no {explitive} Americans: Marshal, Hamilton, Lincoln, Teddy, Nixon, and Condi of course. The saints name thing is cool, if you were fighting the Gorn you could have a St George cl
I havent played the beta but the manual gives the impression that each of the ethical alignments can sustain a healthy empire, so you could be evil and have a high score, but when the score is tallied after a game do you get points for more than just your population, approval, technology etc. or are things like how many ships you destroy (I mean build) or planets you bombard until unhabitable (I mean terraform) counted? Just wondering.</font

If you like civilization 4 this looks a lot like it. The first galciv is basicaly civilization in space, hence Galactic Civilizations. Good games you might bide your time whith if you wait for demo: Dungeon Keeper 2, Populous the Beggining, Startopia, and Red Baron 3d. Dungeon Keeper 2 has never been surpassed and you can easily pick it up for 10 bucks, would be good for the amount of time you have each sitting. The other two are similar, Red Baron you have to like flight simulators for but
I live in France, I've ordered one game and I didn't get hit with charges. I ordered directly from the take two store and it came in a normal looking manila bubble-rap envelope, something customs would not be inclined to open. If you order a bunch of stuff from amazon it comes in a big box that says amazon on the side which customs officials love to poke into. I'd ask Stardock whether it comes in a box or a manila envelope, also, for special instructions tell them to write "gift" on the packi
I once played a space conquest game where you could pray. Build shrines and temples and your planets terraformed, your risk of bad events was lowered, your weapons and defenses became more powerful, stick a little talisman on your ship (ok, a 50 megaton talisman) and it's direct-fire weapons (lasers, depleted urainium cannons, etc.) would never miss. I could lead my pious empire to glory in cooperation with the Ferengi while we smote Space Vikings and the Starship Troopers' fleet. If things g
Space Empires has been around at least 10 years. From what I can garnish from the screenshots that are availible, it's going to be an update of Space Empires IV with better graphics, some kind of 3d planet building interface. Space Empires is more of a spreadsheet game, very bearbones, easy to mod, easy to add a lot of content. It plays very differently. The best thing it has going for it is content (see below) which gives you a lot of strategic options but the AI is weak (remember: one guy
