I had a planet like that: I made it my manufacturing capital, and surrounded it with three fully developed economic starbases that gave additional bonuses. I called it my "_____Shipyards", and it outproduced the output of entire empires.

I like the idea of a ship pack, and I'd buy it, but it should be substantial for that price. Also, what happened to the idea of having your empire's logo be able to be placed on the ships (presumably as a component)? Would that be in a patch, a "ship pack", or the more formal expansion pack that you guys were thinking about releasing I think in the September time frame)?

I had one game that was going very well ruined when a massive "influence spike" suddenly tripled the size of the influence of a neighboring empire, and my planets started to rebel. I was doing much better than that empire, and all of a sudden my game went to hell. It just happened on another game but I just reloaded the last autosave, and did one or two things differently and the influence spike never happened. I'm sure its a bug. No amou

I know that there have been some posts about this, but I get the same two or three music tracks playing throughout the game. I didn't realize that there were more until my son fired up the game on his computer, and I heard a different, cool sounding track. I have no idea how to get that one or others to play. Is this a bug? Is there a way to play the other tracks? I do have an MP3 and have listened to my own music (the Star Trek movie s

I have one minor graphics bug. I get some kind of short flaming vapor trail, that I guess is supposed to be my ship's exhaust(?) but at times its sitting in space just below or sometimes just above my ship. Its not a damage indicator--it occurs on undamaged vessels, and is noted mostly on the battle screen. Any one else have this? Suggestions to get rid of it?

If ships were cloaked, then they should be more vulnerable to attack. For example, if cloaking were instituted, a fleet of cloaked ships, if discovered while cloaked, could be attacked and would then have to defend at perhaps half (or less) than their normal strength (or hit points). This is more fitting with the conventional sci fi ideas about cloaking, e.g., can't fire weapons while cloaked, can't use active scanning, etc. A tech tree ad

For tactical space combat, Try out Nexus, or X3. I got em both, and found them really, really beautiful but boring. As far as tactical combat in SE4 or MOO2, I thought it was a way of cheating a better armed AI. I stopped using it. Stardock has the right idea here.

I should be winning but all of a sudden my Drengin enemy had a massive jump in influence, despite the fact that he's losing wars on all fronts. My planets are rebelling despite the gains I make. At the same time, my treasury keeps dropping, yet I have a positive income. I am SO frickin angry, because up to this point it was a great game.

I don't know why, but no matter how tough I set up the game, the Arceans seem to be my arch-nemesis. I found myself swearing at the screen at them, wishing I could talk trash--only to realize it was silly to hate an AI. Good job Stardock.

I thought new "jewelry" and race logos on ships (custom logos too?) were going to be incorporated into a patch soon. I remember reading about that in one of the Dev journals. I don't see it on the upcoming patch notes though. Of course, there is already so many improvements and tweaks in the patch I can't complain.

I think its more difficult to recreate or replicate a well-known thing, such as a Star Trek vessel, than it is to create a brand new ship. Why? First of all, the CAD program that is the shipbuilder is wonderful, but to make a very authentic looking Klingon cruiser, for example, is difficult because the pieces you have to work with are not exactly made for that purpose. Its a victory when you can make something like that and the rest of the community

I did follow those instructions. The only question I have is regarding "resize" options. I clicked to not resize, and perhaps it just uploaded the thumbnail within my "My pictures" folder rather than the whole image, which should be much larger. Like I siad, I'll try to reupload later. I'm really proud of my Birds of Prey

As far as military science fiction goes, I like the collaborative books by David Weber and Steve White, Such as In Death Ground, The Shiva Option, and others. Interestingly, there is a game out there loosely based on this series, I think its called Starfire, or -gasp- Starforce, or something, (or rather the books may have been based on the game), and GC2's primary "competitor", the Space Empires series, is also loosely based on that game which is base

You can also just play GC2 in a windowed mode with a separate mp3 player in the background. I just turn the regular GC2 music down. I created a Klingon Empire, and like to listen to all the Klingon-ish music from the Star Trek movie albums in the background. Nothing like the music of the opening scene of the three Battlecruisers coming up on the VJer cloud in Star Trek: The Motion Picture. .

Beautiful Klingon Cruisers. I'm inspired to do better. I always liked that style of starship more than any other--except for maybe the Star Wars Empire's Star Destroyer, but everybody seems to love that thing, and its now old hat--with all the Star Wars games out there.
