You had me worried there for a second. Will there be anykind of cinematic mode or quick way to toggle off the UI to watch fleet battles?

The UI looks pretty good. The sidebar menu already looks easy. The graphics on those screenshots look a lot worse than they did before though. I am hoping the litle blue/red lines are orders, not weapons

They already moved the releast date back. Something like August 2007. Onthe bright side, there should be a beta for everyone who preorders it ~January.

what works for the publishers doesnt nescessarily work for the devs or the gamers... and thats exactly what I'm worried about As Arilias said, stardock has actually developed its own games, sometimes having another company publish them (ex GC1). They probably understand what the developer needs better than most other publishers.

What exactly do you mean by ranks?

One of the best parts of GC2 were the random events. Another great example of this is Sword of the Stars. Would it be possible to add this kind of things in (meteor showers on worlds, abandon alien ships, plagues, etc)
