I prefer the pop limit to be when malloc()/new() return NULL.

It'd be nice if there were "hero" type personnel that can be assigned to ships; that could be captured or lost, that bring unique bonuses to individual ships/planets/fleets.
The Stardock connection brought me to SoASE. GalCiv2 is a great game. And it happens to run on my AMD64 single-core laptop quite well. Homeworld 2 and the SW:EAW also run passably well, despite the Radeon X200 video (never go there! geforce2go all the way!). Is there any hope that this game will run on my notebook? I'm sure it's too early to peg down a *real* minimum requirements, but what sort of platform are you targeting; and how much effort are you preparing to devote to testing and tuning o
I agree with ninja. I think they're completely different targets. I think SupCom will be absolutely cool. I haven't heard of any plans for the scale to extend beyond the boundary of a single planet just yet though. Remember Interlocking Game System (Rules of Engagement)? We could zoom out from SupCom and fall into SoASE. For the truly perverse integration engineers among us.
I would personally find that really frustrating. If devs added this, I'd hope it would be an option. I can see where someone might want to have to peg through a spectrum analysis to try to match the signature to one in the data base (you sub sim zealots!) but I think that could be pretty mind-numbing after a while.
Devs -- it could be frustrating so maybe not a good idea, but consider what might happen to a nation if it's capital city were dealt a harsh blow, crippling its government; if it wasn't prepared (depending on your tech system, a research item for "shadow government" that allowed for "backup" capitals could be added), production, trade, research -- everything could be disrupted until a new capital is established. This would create significant strategic value to a homeworld and necesitate its prot
Thanks! That was quite excellent. Great production values. Already seems more sophisticated than SoTS. My expectations have now been set high. It looks like there's a vast amount of ships in combat at once and that it takes place at a pretty frenetic pace -- that could be tricky if not pulled of well.
