Brad, Before I plunk down money for WindowBlinds or ObjectDesktop, what's the upgrade path looking like for Vista? Latest reports show that Vista won't be out for consumers until early 2007, but I'd like to know that WindowBlinds will still be relevant at that point in time. Thanks!

Yes, it's made quite the splash on this forum too: Link
I may be wrong about this, but I think I read that ships need at least _some_ defensive ability to get a starbase bonus. If this is the case, the Star Fury -- which has a 0 defense rating -- would not qualify for starbase benefits.
Yes, with some caveats, you can upgrade ships in space. Check out this article from the wikipedia: Link
Check out this program by Christoph Nahr Link . It's a "Galactopedia" that lists what it takes to get all sorts of things (including ships) and what things do. You might also check out the wiki site for some more info: Link
I stand corrected, Hereticked. You posted two valid issues at the beginning of the thread. And I assume you have others that you were too bothered to post. However, your comment that the game is likely to be unplayable for months strikes me as quite an exaggeration. I've had fun playing for numerous hours already. What games have you recently played that (after installing per the documentation) have been less buggy? In my many years of gamin
Have you noticed that Hereticked has still not -- in eleven(!) posts to this thread -- mentioned a single bug? I think what really happened was that he was (understandably) pissed off that the game kept crashing and vented on this forum in a typical, hyperbole-filled manner. When it was pointed out that this fix was simple and documented, he became ashamed. There really were no a**load of bugs, just the one. If I'm wrong, post one. One! (Hereticked is now poring
So, let me get this straight: 1. "the game crashes every 15 minutes. It sucks. it sucks!" - Update your video driver. It'll fix the problem - and this fix has been stated numerous times in the documentation and the forums. 2. "Well I dont really care about that problem anyhow. The real problem is all the bugs" - That does sound like a problem. What are the bugs you're having? We'll resolve them if possible. 3. "I don't have time to tell you the bug
Cool. Thanks, HEEGZ!
Say I've partially researched technology X and realize, "Oh, crap! I need to get technology Y right away!" So I switch my research to technology Y. Then I go back to re-research technology X. Do I get credit for all the time my scientists already spent on the project many moons back? In other words, is the number of weeks required to complete technology X reduced by the number of weeks I already spent on it earlier?
LordFu, that is frickin' hilarious!
Sounds like it may be a couple more days. Here's the patch notes link: Link
This was a really weird, but rather funny thread. But, as Mascrinthus notes, to more accurately describe the issue, the thread might better be renamed from: SAVE its a bigiest Crap in this game i've ever seen to: I love this AWESOME game - especially with the latest video card drivers
Again, I am thoroughly impressed by Stardock's presence on these forums! But with respect, Andrew, as customers we shouldn't be told how to ask Stardock for improvements. (Within reason, of course. Insults are clearly unacceptable.) Many people have created threads or added posts to voice their frustration with the current forums. That alone should be a clue to Stardock that there is something amiss. Just use the current forum tools to see what issues
Stardock does many thing right, but the forum interface definitely isn't one of them. It perplexes me, there are so many free forum frameworks out there that are far superior in terms of: searching, viewing, customizing, look-n-feel, usability, etc. For goodness sakes, put a junior developer on the job. Or, better yet, bring in a college intern (who will work for experience, rather than much pay). But there is too much information abo
