...Placing a simple time limit on the demo, especially when the maps provided can be pretty easily played to completion within said limit (and you can of course play again if you like), isn't at all out of line or unexpected IMO. The point is to let you see how the game plays so you can decide whether to buy it, not to give you a free day of entertainment.
I really feel I'm a lone one calling in the desert here. So let me get a few points straight: - Yes we all think

Time limitation is just a horrible mechanism for a demo, especially as there are much better alternatives for playing limitation. People can live with limited functionality because that's what they expect from a demo. This is not the case however with time limitation. I just would never start a time limited demo for the reasons above and I know for sure that I'm not the only one that feels that way. That's why this was not a smart decision.
This is exactly the point: I played the Bioshock demo and you could not get beyond some level, even if it took you 3 hours to get there. This is fine because I will not get kicked out in the middle of something like this demo does.
90 min per game is not the point, its about the arbitrary kick out that will ruin the experience. Being kicked-out without acomplishing something will frustrate most people and will prevent them from playing at all, that's the point
.I for one would hate playing a game knowing I would get kicked off in 90 minutes, but it's not a game, it's a demo. Demo's aren't meant to provide you with a little free version of the game. They're supposed to show you the game so you want, or don't want, to buy it... preferably want.I don't really see what else you want out of a demo...
In that case you are aiming for people who must be very interested from the beginning. I, personally, would not even start a demo if there wo
People here are not getting it: IT'S NOT ABOUT FINISHING A MAP IN 90 MIN!! It's about the PERCEPTION that you can finish it. The goal of this demo: Create desire to buy this game. Most people, especially strategy gamers, will not start a (demo) game AT ALL if they know upfront that they will be kicked out at some arbitrary point, loosing all there build-up efforts without knowing upfront if they have the time to put them into play. So, if people will not start the demo in the f
Time limited demo, this must be absolutely the dumbest mistake Ironclad/Stardock have ever made regarding this game. Think about it: Would you ever consider as a strategy gamer to start playing a game if you know upfront that you would abruptly trown out of it after 90 min? That experience would create frustration, not desire! I wouldn't mind playing on smaller maps or with other limited functionality as long as I am sure that I can actually finish my game! Give people full f

Better art direction and slightly better technical graphics would make this game perfect for me. Right now it lacks some style & atmosphere, making the setting less believable.
Ever played HW2, think again
Although the graphics of this game are generally nice, I can't help to find the ship design details slightly disapointing. Design wise they are ok but certainly not great, some are nice but some are just plain ugly by design. Altogether nothing special if you ask me. Detail wise, especially the capital ships look a bit blunt and could use some extra textures imo. Compared to other, similar games I've played this game is falling short imo: - Galciv 2: Didn't like the stock
