Getting bored with Starcraft 2 so going back to play some of my old favorites. Came back here to the sins modding board and what do I see? Why I see a mod for the best damn space MMO ever on the best damn space RTS/4X game ever... Sweet!!!! Honestly I am shocked that CCP let you use their stuff I remember someone wanted to make a EVE mod for Homeworld 2 and they got a cease and desist letter. I assume they did not ask for permission though. Can't wait f

There is currently a EVE Online mod being made for Homeworld 2. The project lead for that mod had to get permission and CCP will only let him release it publicly after they approve the quality of the mod. I don't know if thats just the way CCP themselves are or if thats just the way Icelander culture is in general to being very protective of creative property.
:SURPRISED: I just found this mod today and today I updated Sins to 1.05. hmm I wonder if it will still work with 1.05. Because those effects are very nice and... we wants them... needs them... precccioussss.
I think we need to dramatically downsize our prisons and to do that I think we need more speedy way to execute criminals. I also think that there should not be a life sentence anything that goes over 40 years of prison time should automatically be death sentence. Also legalization of certain drugs so the prisons will not be filled with petty criminals. I also think there should be a 3 strikes your out rule. If you are caught burglarizing a home or business 3 times you get a 4
The disappearing effects was fixed for 1.04 :o
Damn, for real? *Runs off to play Vasari game.*
Fixed bug deallocating particle pool memory.
So does this mean I can play as the Vasari again? With out the effects disappearing?
I have the same problem (although mine is only with Vasari) Goto C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR USERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Setting in there will be a file called "user" open it up in notepad and look for the line MaxParticlecount= 6000 Increase that number to something higher (I did 12000) That seems to work for some people but for me it just prolongs the amount of time until the weapon effects and everthing disa
Most 4x games do not have campaigns even the semi-real time ones. So to add to the list: Sword of the Stars, Imperium Galactica, are 4x games with no campaign
I don't know about you but in these kinds of games I hardly touch the campaign and go straight for the skirmish mode.
Turn down your effects settings, especially for textures. Go to the user.setting file and bring up your particle count. Doing that fixed this issue for me.
I have the particle count at 12000 and I have not touched the effect settings they are at low for textures (the default settings). But what is really weird is that this only happens when playing as the Vasari, if I am any other race it does not happen. Ev
I do see myself playing this game for a the next 6 or 7 months. By then Spore will be out and then I gotta whole other galaxy to conquer and bring under my steel toed boot.
So I guess that would be a no.
I liked the bright shield effects and then in the latest update they lowered the opacity. How would I turn the opacity back up?
If you go to the research screen you will see one button that says Fleet Logistics. Click on that and then it will take you to another screen where there will be 2 rows of buttons. Top row increases command points which are used for Capital Ships. The bottom row is increases fleet points which are used for building frigates and cruisers, capital ships also require fleet points but if you don't have any command points you won't be able to build another capital ship period.
Yeah I noticed this as well. It seems to always be a light frigate. It acts like its trying to jump away but it never does.
k, its been sent. Thank you so much for the support.
Yeah I just got owned by normal random AI. Me and 3 AI's free for all unlocked teams. I think the TEC AI and the Advent AI teamed up against me. I took 3 TEC worlds because they had crystals and I only had 1 crystal roid and a bunch of metal so I needed those crystal asteroids. Next thing I know the TEC are sending 5 capital ships and about 100 cobalts at one of my planets. I send my largest fleet from another nearby planet that I took from them and then suddenly the Advent came to that planet
If you had a peace treaty with them this will happen temporarily. If you go to the diplomacy screen you can see a count down next to go to war. Until this countdown reaches 0 you cannot attack your former ally.
A fix for the disappearing Vasari weapons would be nice.

Its happening again. This happened a couple of time in the beta. There should be a lot of gun fire flying about here but there is nothing. You can here the sounds but no weapon fire effect and no impact effect.
So for the AI there is Research, Aggressor, Fortifier, and random. Now here is where I am confused. Does the random option just randomly assign one of the three types to the AI or is it sort of the Balanced option. Because if its not, in another update somewhere along the line there should be a Balanced AI characteristic. It would be like having the AI switch from various characteristics at various times. (AI starts out as Fortifier and does what ever a Fortifier would normally do then sw
Oh really. So he has a good background on being sadistic
Is it just me or does the Vasari Announcer guy's voice sound like Emperor Palpatine from Star Wars. It sounds so evil its awesome.
Awesome, now all we need is a Pirate on/off button. Of course I would most likely play with pirates but at times I wish they just didn't exist. And its great that some of the missions given may actually be within the realm of possibility to complete.
