[quote who="SapSnark" reply="34" id="2662993"]Hark Frogboy, and listen well to these game forum residents – you cannot possibly complete the game in time for release. Forum denizens know of what they speak. Indeed it may appear that your long time experience with PC games, including the production of a handful of the best PC games of all time, would mean you do know what you’re talking about - IT DOES NOT! Neither previous in depth explanations of what the beta is and w

Please delay the release! I have a very hard time believing you are ready for this. Elemental's launch quality, not its patched-in-six-months quality, will determine 95% of the buzz around the title. A full year delay will be easier to live down than a half finished game. I urge you to do whatever is required in order to orchestrate a much needed delay. We can't go from having not tested 75% of the game to release this quickly. If money absolutely requires a rushed release then I understand,

This is usually about the time a company developing a bad rep starts trying to "rebrand" itself. Be on the lookout for Starforce under other names now. There will be a "new" form of copy protection called Claria Copycheck or something like that. Oh wait, Claria is already taken. <img src="http

I thought of a simple change that could be made that would greatly improve the ease of use of the tech trade screens. It is very, very simple: Techs only known to the player are highlighted in red. To me, this would be an extremely worthwhile change, because I often hold back trading any techs that only I know, while I *instantly* trade any tech that an AI knows as well. Anyone second me on this one? I was hoping maybe I could get this rolling and get

The simple fact is you get these same people on every game that comes out. While this person may not be quite this bad, I find the words "top of the line" to be telling. Often people have a sort of "The oil comes with the car" mentality to computer software maintenance, and there is the problem. They think that you just install windows, and then take whatever drivers come off the CD, and your set. They also think that every little widget they find online should be allowed to start during bootup

Tell me, oh GalCiv 2 developers and gurus, what is the ratio of advantage for building a given thing (building or ship) with a factory as opposed to just rush buying it? I understand that the factories are essentially buildings that turn income directly into production, but in what way are they superior, then, to just rush buying? I suspect it is because it is more efficient as far as BC's spent, but can anyone clear up just how much more so

I'll have to stop and think about the rest of the list, but I agree that you really can't go wrong with Populists. I have a particular strategic fondness for the stock-terran populists. I also agree that war party is insanely weak. I would consider giving war party a weapon bonus to go with their HP bonus. EDIT: I would also like to note that I considered the Populists to be super powerful and the War Party to be super weak even BEFORE this patch.

It's even worse than it sounds because, lets say me and you are competing for a metaverse score and you *choose* not to use this exploit, I can choose to use it and you may very well be forced to use it or never *win* score wise. So the idea that you can simply not use the exploit yourself and that fixes the problem is naive at best.

A all the way for me. The developers can then focus on the game from one angle. A good example of why A is a superior option: what is a diplomacy bonus for in a multiplayer game? I think that many of you think that multiplayer is "win win" but it's simply not true. I would probably play single player 99.9% of the time, so even a very small detraction from single player would be a raw deal for me.

If you have a ship "in the line" to be built, and you overbuild the starport, it will finish the last ship as if the starport still existed. Also, if you re-build the starport afterwords you can see where it has progressed even if it never finished.

I have to come down somewhere in the middle on this one. There are some pretty silly bugs in the game. For example, why is +4 logistics +4%?! What in the world does adding +4 to your logistics pool have to do with percentages? Why do the government types refer to "Colonies of Earth" when I am playing as the Yor? Why does it say "Invading a star system" when I am invading a planet? That being said I love the game but it needs to be polished. So long as the patches keep on rolling I won

Earlier when I was playing, I had a great stroke of luck. I was the caveman civ at the time, being dozens of techs behind everyone, but that one crazy resolution about sharing came up, and share 5 techs was voted in. The result was that everyone pretty much had all the same techs, which is normal. However, the thing is, after I got all the messages saying "XX perfected", then I got a window that said "The UP passed a resol
