I've been playing on a 160 - 300 planet map at home and lan, whilst they become extremely difficult to manage as there are lots of things going on, don't forget that your opponents have the same restrictions as you do, so it's really about being in the right place at the right time, cheap tactics begin to work here especially towards end game.

There seems to be an even balance of people who can deal with the so-called 'siege spam' and people who cannot. You can change the pace of the game when you start a new one, in my personal opinion I'd say it's current speed is spot on for the kind of game. Plus the combat is plenty fast enough right now, but obviously this is a matter of my opinion. As for pirates, there are a couple of ways you can get them away from you, first off is get rid of that bounty on your head - give another player more bounty. Secondly take out their base, if there's pirates there'll be a base somewhere in your system
The voice overs in this are fine, if you want bad voice overs, play Empire Earth 3 "Ouch.. Just drill hole in hand"
