I have been away from Sins for a while, just got the 1.05 patch and started a game. I parked a fleet in a wormhole well that I wanted to defend, half my fleet kept chasing the enemy through the wormhole. No matter what I did or where I put the fleet in the well ships would keep jumping through the wormhole. That fleet got decimated as the AI just killed off the stupid ships that jumped then it just jumped in and finished off the rest! Why the hell wont my ships stay in the gravi

Hi, I have had some time now to play quite a few games and I have some thoughts. Should note that I am not interested in multiplayer. Diplomacy is far too simple, it should be way way more in depth. Pirates and Black Market need to be overhauled. I have some ideas on this... I would suggest a complete revamp of the function of pirates. They should not be concerned with attacking infrastructure or going head to head with fleets. I think pirates should be primarly focused on goin
Well it only applies to multiple star maps but I have a couple uses for z-axis. First one is I like to place scouts at stars to keep an eye out, to avoid them being attacked I place them high above the star. Second I have a defense fleet that I keep at a star so it can quickly get to where its needed, I place that fleet hi\low on the z-axis and it jumps to any star almost without moving thus getting where its needed much faster. Third though I have heard its a bug, sometimes in multi
Bad idea, planetary defenses are not supposed to go head to head with a fleet. As the game is now planet defenses can defeat a pirate attack alone, and thats good enough. If you make them more powerful, then a fleet at a planet with your idea would be indestructible. Infact even as it stands right now to take on a fleet + defenses is extremely difficult. I think perhaps you do not understand that planet defenses are there to buy time for the cavalry to arrive. Even if I have a fleet clo
How do you make the plane go form 2D to 3D
First you have to go into options and map a key to z-axis. Once done you select the ship\ships you want to move then click the movement key, a grid will show up and when you hold the mapped z-axis key you will be able to move your target up and down on that axis.
Yes, it's called a bug!
Possibly, or maybe Ironclad couldnt get the AI to use the Z-axis so it cant make those jumps, so they added the z-axis movement so you could at least manually do it. I only play large muti-star maps so maybe you have not found out the advantages of z-axis (though these strats are useless on single star maps) Strat 1, I spilt my forces into 5 groups, 4 roving attacking groups and one defense group. The single defense group has to p
I can understand problems with micromanagement but why in the world is 3d movement even a feature in the game? I don't see any advantage to it.
Ever played a muti-star map and had two stars close together but spread far apart on the z-axis and your ships would not jump from one star to the other? You have to move you ships on the z-axis, above or below the originating star to make the jump.
Nope, pirates can't travel between stars. Additionally, I believe even with multiple bases in the same system, there will be only one raid total, not one raid per base.
Thats lame, hey Ironclad get on it, make pirates able to travel to other stars please.
The British have great ship names, can't beat those
Thats mine too, Brits came up with some badass names, I like... Ajax Repulse Revenge Warspite Terror Conqueror Invincible Vengeance Resistance Vanguard
Don't feed the trolls PPL.
I was in the same boat and found the answer here... http://tgnforums.stardock.com/176054 post #13 explains it.
... and also on the map designer, it doesnt even randomize the placement of stars? it just places them in a big circle in the order you created them... WTF? thats seriously lame.
I am having a problem with the map designer. The only map I like in the game is Voruks Labyrinth, but after a few games I'm getting tired of it, so I wanted to generate a similar radom map with the map designer. I have managed to get all the settings to what I like but there is one problem. In the home systems the generator always puts a group of three planets grouped together way way out from the parent star. I do not want to have to make maps I just want to play and I want it to be random s
Just an FYI I thought folks here might appreciate. http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/nasatv/ Just go to other viewing options on your right and pick the player of your choice. Spacewalk happening right now, live, for about another couple hours of this post time, and if you did'nt see the launch, it was spetacular, night and low cloud cover... awsome.
Well after checking at my local Wal Mart for the last month I have come to the conclusion that it is only available at US Wal Marts and not Canadian Wal Marts. Has anyone found this game in a Canadian Wal Mart? or am I SOL.
... easyer said then done... but yes, i do agree. Though its something that will probably be best done by an individual as an "add on" mod to the "vanilla" stat trek mod. I would love to see the Borg put in, but... dang, read what has already been talked about. They already have their hands MORE then full just trying to do the basics. and the Borg WILL NOT be in the initial release, a fact i am perfectly ok with.
I was not really pushing for the Borg to be in the MOD, mor
Hi, just skimmed through the thread, I have a few thoughts on the subject. You seem to be trying to fit the ST mold into the Sins mold. My understanding of the game engine is that you can mold it into whatever you want. So dont compromise the ST universe to fit how the game works now, just break the mold and make it do what you want it to. Just an example that came to mind. Making the Borg into the pirates. As the game works now you are correct, the borg would be ridiculously p
Just a disclaimer before I begin, I am in no way condoning pirateing your entertainment, as my parents taught me, two wrongs do not make a right. Game\music\movie industrys and their supporters are always out condemning people as pirates and theifs, pot calling the kettle black IMO. These industrys are some of the biggest thiefs on the planet, they have been stealing from the general public for decades and nobody bats an eye. Maybe thats why the police are pretty lax in defending their
This is a big issue with me and my game hobby. What the discussion always boils down to is pirates arguing that it isnt stealing and game companys and others arguing it is stealing. Fact is, it is wrong to pirate your games. Fact is the punishment far outwieghs the crime, but thats not a surprise in capitalist corperate sponsored goverments, IMO the biggest crime to humanity there is. The issue is that game companys, in thier futile fight, screw over the folks that actually buy their pr
CE? When will Vancouver get any edition of this game in stores. Funny that a game made in Van cant be purchased in Van... and sorry, not going to pay $70 for it online. I will just have to wait for it to be stocked, plus I am in Powell River so I guess I got me a long time to wait.
Sorry if this has been answered already, I didnt read all the posts. The game seems to be setup where there are say four suns with like 10 planets around each sun? (I do not have the game, thinking about buying it) My question is, can a map be made with 20 stars and 2-3 planets around each star? Or 50 stars with planets only around 1/3rd of them, so there would be alot of planetless stars.
