In team games, its not over untill its over. Just because your not doing so good doesn't mean that your allies aren't. Generaly I'll refer to the one guy getting ganged up on as the "Decoy." I don't think that comebacks are impossible in Sins, its more of just that the games take so long there is no huge push where you blow the enemy back across the map and send him crawling to his corner of the map; like in Company of Heroes. Comebacks are just going to be slower as you slowly begin getting the

Large groups of people that never figured out how to host works out good for me. It means when I do put up a game, people join it quicker :)

I couldn't host, and it took literally 4 minutes to open the ports and get back into Sins to host my first game. The same people were still in the lobby waiting... in fact the first few people I spoke with said that either their parents wouldn't let them "open ports" on "their router" or that they were just too lazy to do it and rathered other people hosted. Anything I would suggest would be covered in Monk's guide... Just DMZ Host yourself and you'll be able to host. If that does work,

I like the Marauder a lot, there are just too many uses for its speed boost ability for me not to use it anymore. 1) You can use it to speed the retreat of ships when fighting the neutrals. Not only will the ship fly away faster and thus have a higher likly hood of living to fight another day, but it can phase out quicker. Retreating wounded ships takes a lot of micro, but it keeps them alive and it makes the enemy waste time shooting at a ship that they won't even kill. This can work

You save the game, or it autosaves. You click "Host saved game" and pick the game. It takes you to the normal player list, except all the slots are filled in with the names of the players who were playing them, just greyed out I think. The other people who were playing and have the save join and take up their appropriate slot(it even auto places them I think). Other people will occationally join the game even when they see they don't have the "map" which would be the name of the game, but it eit

This answered all my questions: http://www.kiclan.com/Monk/Networking_and_SINS_by_the_Monk.pdf I think it even tells you how to access your router which is relativly simple. If you don't know already, then its something that you would have had to learn eventually anyway. Maybe ask your parents how to access it? It is also important to know, and is explained in the guide, that the "Most people will not be able to join your game" error message comes up even when you can

I noticed in the recent game I played, which was a 3v3 on Blindside, that various things costed around 125 credits less than they ussually do. I can't remember anything specifically, just that there were some buildings that should have been 750 that only cost 625. I think metal/crystal extractors are normally 250 but in this game they were only 208. This was in the begining of the game and the only thing I had researed was Assailiants and Volcanic Occupation. Is there an option which

The game already autosaves every, I don't know, couple of minutes. Just 2 days ago we had someone crash(me, the host...) and loaded up the autosave and everything continued just fine. Was a good game. As for the fleet thing, you can just select one ship and make it a fleet, the other ships should automatically join that ship after the fleet has been created. That is why when you go into the fleet options for a ship, "Join fleet" is always on autocast. So if you click on your capital shi

You have to ignore that message, and see if people can still join your game. As far as I know, everyone gets that message and lots of people can still host. Apparently you could also have a modem which has router like features, everything you'll need to know can be found in this guide, which is posted in a sticky on this forum somewhere. It also explains in here somewhere why the message pops up even though everyone can still join your games. http://www.kiclan.com/Monk/Network

I was in a game a few hours ago where my team had already won(basically) so I started messing around with the Z-axis. If you weren't aware, you can set a button to allow z-axis(up and down) movement in the key bindings. I think it might have started out not set to anything, or maybe I set the key it was binded to to something else(I did change a lot of them). Anyway, from what I could tell it is possible to fly upward/downward vertically and get out of range of turrents. You can use

Hmm, so other ships can use the created phase lane to warp away? Maybe they weren't doing that because I had phase jump as a group on, and since the cap ship couldn't do it none of them did it either. The main problem I had was that if I jumped my fleet into the enemies base, and he attacked me, there was no quick way to get back to my base. If my entire fleet except the Marauder itself can make it back, then thats good enough. The only thing I use my marauder for in combat really is to fly it a

Like I said, I don't even know what UPnP is, but it says not to use it. I don't use it, and I can host. I saw that ports 6000 and 6112 needed to be forwarded, I already had 6112 forwarded for battle.net, but still couldn't host. So I made a seprate entry for Sins that forwarded 6000-6112 and it started working. Maybe try this: http://blog.mpecsinc.ca/2007/03/troubleshooting-how-to-reset-internet.html

I was using my Marauder the other day, and I wanted to make it go from a system with no phase node(wasn't even my system) to my home planet(which had a phase gate). However it didn't seem to be working, instead my marauder went through the pirate base. I know that you can warp ships to the marauder while using this ability, because I've done it before. Why can't the marauder use its own created phase stabalizer to warp -to- another phase stabalizer? In fact, why doesn't the ability cr

According to the_Monks guide, if you have UPnP enabled, and your ports forwarded, your nullifying both of them and in effect causing nothing to change. All I had to do was forward ports 6000-6112 and it worked after that, took less than 4 minutes. I don't even know what UPnP is ... This guide seems to answer a lot of questions though, go through it. There are also a lot of stickies, there was something about reseting TCP/IP and Winsock or something, I don't have the link for that thoug

I'm tried of playing people who quit after their capital ship gets destoryed. Capital ships are not the same as hero units in Warcraft III, if you lose one it is not the end of the game for you. I don't agree that once you start losing, its game over. In 1v1 games maybe, but I have played a game where what looked like a loss for me, allowed my team mate to build up and win it. I was what is often called "The decoy." I try and say before I start a game that: No quitting after your cap s

I find that I actually have a better connection here at the dorm than I do at home, and I can host just fine. I have noticed that when hosting, sometimes one player will jump up to 1000+ ping and freeze the game, but after a minute or two(if he didn't just quit) it'll drop back down and the game will go on. So maybe you just need to wait a minute or two? That might be SMS-Andro's problem. As for everyone dropping, never had that happen to me. The biggest problem I'm having right now, i

The Marauder cap ship is my new favorite, I just got out of a game having used it. First off, I have found what makes Subversion usefull, it stacks. I was able to get the enemies planet up to -270% ship and building production, and it lasts 10 minutes, also giving you line of sight of that planet. Now considering I've won a few defensive battles because of my ability to build new repair bays and constantly add new ships to the battle, making it take the enemy 3-4 ti

Also remember that just because you get the error "MOst players will not be able to join your games" when you host, does not at all mean taht no one will be able to host. I found this guide usefull, it was in one of the stickies on this site: http://www.kiclan.com/Monk/Networking_and_SINS_by_the_Monk.pdf

The colonize ability of the Evacuator does colonize planets, the increased production speed must just be a bonus to keep it usefull when you arn't colonizing anymore.

Just commenting on the qoute from the guy above me, LRM's do sort of have a minimum range. When they shoot, if the ship is really close the missles will miss and then have to fly around in circles untill they eventually(if they ever?) hit. So if you fly in real close, you might not stop being hurt entirely, but the damage the LRMs do will be less. Not to mention, if they are firing missles at one ship, and then that ship blows up, all the missles that were aimmed at that ship but were still flyi

On page 5 of the guide posted by "the Monk" which is here... http://www.kiclan.com/Monk/Networking_and_SINS_by_the_Monk.pdf It explains that apparently, like others have said before me, if you fail any of the "checks" that Ironclad Online does, any of them at all, then you get that message. Getting the message does not mean that you can't host. I get the message and can still host. The guy who wrote the guide gets the message and can still host. Some people above my post here have said

Ohh, so that is what that green link beam is? The other guy and I couldn't figure it out, I just assumed it was some TEC upgrade. Alright then, I'll assume they are helping some how then. My 20 Assailants did take out 83 LRMs, but then I thought it was just the 5 repair bays that made the difference.

3 Replies 12,288 Views

Alright so the first question: 1) Assailiants can be upgraded to have Charged Missles, which are supposed to make them do AoE damage but move slower. How do these work? It starts out on autocast, but when I watch over them during a battle they hardly ever seem to use them on their own, and when they do it only lasts 2 seconds. When I click to have an entire group use them, it seems as if only one is actually shooting them(though I might just not be able to switch between ships quick e

I couldn't host on my home network, but then I didn't have a lot of time to mess around with it. I've never had problems with joining other peoples games, and here at school(where I was expecting my college to have all the ports blocked and what not) I have absolutly no trouble hosting or joining games. I think it is a case of like most forums, the people having troubles come and complain, and the people with no problems just play the game and never say anything, causing there to be an illusion
