I was having an issue like this the first time I installed the game. It would just go away and then windows would come up with a message "This program has stopped working, closing it now." or close to that. I think it might have been because I turned off the movies in the begining, but I haven't wanted to test it. A re-install got it working again, its worked ever since.

Phase stabalizers are useful for more than just RA though. So if you make them take 20 tactical slots(they take 10 right now) then your making them less useful for their original purpose, which is moving from one plaent to another without using phase lanes. I think just keeping it to one gate per planet is the best solution, I also suggested it in the other RA post a week or so ago. This leaves phase stabalizers to be used for their own sake, while leaving RA useful but less effective.

I didn't bother to save a replay no, and if I had I wouldn't be able to put it up anywhere for it to be viewed. I didn't say we were the greatest team ever, right off the bat one of my team mates stole my astroid, leaving me with my home planet(we were playing on Forign invasion) untill I was able to colonize an ice world. The three of them tried attacking one of my allies early on and we were able to defeat their lrm/assliant spam but took some heavy losses ourselves. After their lrms+cap ships

Like I posted in another post, 1 guy with returning armada was able to hold off 3 other players. It made the game go on and on because even if his ships were destoryed he'd just get them right back. Eventually I had to get returning armada myself and even then things just sort of went into a stalemate. I eventually quit because the game wasn't any fun anymore. All I was actually doing was selecting units, putting them into a giant blob, and sending them toward an enemy planet or two. I

Somewhat related, I once saw a guy flying his ships out past where you can normally go in a grav well. We're talking halfway between the one planet and another. When you zoom out and check the bar next to the planet it still says the ships are near it but they arn't actually there. This guy had only done it with 2 or 3 ships, but they were carriers and the fighters would keep trying to fly back in and attack my ships... I asked him how he did it multiple times but he refused to answer,

I only play multiplayer really. I played 2 games against the AI when I first got the game to figure out how to play, then immediantly went online and learned the hard way(well, it was actually kind of easy). It took 4 minutes to open the ports on my router to get that working and I was hosting games just fine. I've never crashed and I've never gotten any error messages(other than that one "Most people will not be able to join your game" which could just be ignored). I have had other people quit

The income from a resource astroid on normal is .46 a second, the income from a resource astroid on fast is .52, so a .06 a second increase. As apposed to another astroid at .46 income. So... 1.02: High resources ment .46 more income. 1.03: Fast income means .06 more income.

Pirate ships arn't stronger than your ships, pirate ships don't even have shields. Thats not to say that one of your ships is going to be able to fight off 10 pirates. It just means if you have a decent sized force you'll be ok. I've found that 4 or 5 turrents with 2 repair bays can hold off pirates for... well the game only went on for 2 hours, so lets say 2 hours. It might have taken them a long time to kill the pirates, but I wasn't losing any turrents because of the repair bays and my oppone

1) Every hop location has something? Maybe you haven't been playing on the right maps, but on the random maps there will be space junk and things that don't have anything. Or there will be dead astroids which have no resource income. So there isin't always something at the end of the line, its just that the maps are created so that you always seem to have a starting astroid and a starting planet near by. If one guy got 2 astroids and the other guy got 2 plasma storms, I wonder whose going to win

Your first cap ship is free and can clear your starting astroid by itself, so you want to get your cap ship factory first. Thats what I do anyway, I just set it to build right next to my builder ships so it doesn't have to move very far to start it. Then I queue up the crystal extractor and the two metals, in that order because I always need crystal more. The sooner you get those up the more resources your going to be getting, in fact I don't think you start out with any metal/crystal income unt

You certainly don't play Civ4 for its combat, as I remember it all you did is blob your guys togather on one square, send them to attack, and watch animations play over and over again untill the units were dead. As Smacksim said, sometimes flying around behind can give you an advantage. LRMs for example turn slow, you can fly behind them and they'll have to slowly turn around. If your ships turn around quicker than they do you can get a few shots in and then fly behind them again. It w

Maybe something like Returning Armada can only bring in 10-15% of your fleet cap? That would give you some ships to do raids with, while still requiring you to actually build a fleet on your own normally.

The old chat system used to call it "Allies" but I think now its just called /a. It also does not stick to what was selected like it used to, so you have to type /a or hit tab once every time you want to talk to your allies. I believe somewhere someone from Stardock said the chat problems were corrected for the next patch, hopefully that means the new chat system will work more like the old one did.
...In 1.02 you could sell your crystal for 1k very often to other players, around 600-750 to the black market. In 1.03 you can only sell it for around 400-500 to other players, sell it for 100-125 on the black market.People aren't going to pay more for your crystal than they can buy it from on the black market. -_-
Using the offer amount still gets you more credits than just hitting F5 or whatever you have it hotkeyed to(mine are f1 and f2) for selling. Maybe its not as bi

You can't set the price above what it would normally cost to buy it, because really... when you go to buy a Hamburger and Jacky's Burger's has it for 2 dollars and Billy's Burger's has it for 1 dollar, why would you buy the more expensive one? So no, you couldn't set the price of crystal to 12, because then what you'd have is someone always putting 100 crystal up for 100 credits each just to prevent anyone from ever using the blackmarket. You can however lower your price, this is so yo

Even if you did get extra money than you were supposed to, it would be highly unreliable. If you put 10,000 on someone, what happens if someone else attacks him and starts getting the bounty? Or if the pirates start taking it? Or if he goes and fights militia ships(which seem to lower bounty in my experiance)?

Lets assume you have your home world, an astroid, and an ice planet. You now have 3 metal extractors and 5 crystal extractors. I think every planet has the same per second income per extractor which is .54 or so. So your metal income is around 1.62 and your crystal income is at 2.7. Now add 20% to those numbers because the first 2 resource rate techs for Vasari are reasonably easy to get, so your at: Metal: 1.944(probably rounds down, so lets say 1.9) Crystal: 3.24 So your

Are these all LAN issues? I've never had these sorts of issues just playing on Ironclad Online. If you can I'd say just play your games using that, but I have had to use hamatchi in the past. If I remember right Warcraft3 and Starcraft didn't have TCP/IP where you could type in the hosts ip to connect, it just had normal lan. So we had to use hamachi so it'd think we were on a lan and it always worked perfectly. Worked for Diablo2 as well... and the SupCom beta...

Some secrets are best left to be discovered by players on their own... personally I would prefer if the enemy didn't know that when he hit the buy crystal button he was giving me a 4.1 exchange rate on all my crystal. The more people spamming trade centers and buying resources, the more money I make. If they start getting matter processors instead my income is going to go down... Its one of those things that will work good for the few, but if the whole does it dies out. Like going to to
I agree it's OPed, but 3 players should easily be able to blow that away. Why the hell would you engage his -free- fleet head on like that? Send ships behind, just suicide gank his phase stabilizers.
We did fly past and blow up his stabalizers, I took out 6 or 7 of them before he could stop me, but that doesn't do anything to the ships he already has. So it began to seem that sacrificing ships to kill his phase stabalizers would accomplish nothing because he'd still have t

I just played a 3v3 game where Returning Armada was used by both sides. Two members of the other team quit right before the other guy got returning armada(they seemed to think they were losing.) The returning armada guy then proceeded to max his population cap and hold the 3 of us off with his heavy cruisers while the AI occassionally attacked just to be annoying. It got to where the one guy had, for a while at least, a fleet that was as big as the 3 of our fleets all put togather, and there was

Demonic Spoon, did you used to post over at the Company of Heroes forums? Your name looks familier... Just thinking about having an army of scouts is well, comical. I've been hearing they are good against LRM's though, but even with 200% damamge, which would be double damage(100%=normal, 200%=an extra 100%=double) scouts would only be doing 8 damage(Vasari) and the other races would be doing even less. Light frigates do only 75% damage, so 75% of 10(Skrimisher I think) would be 7.5. So
