We have seen examples of planet-based weapons in sci-fi. Just as I was reading this post, I thought of the Ion Cannon on Hoth (Star Wars V), able to disable a Star Destroyer on orbit, the Ion Cannon on Stargate SG-1, that did the same to the Goa'uld motherships Ha'tak, the Ancients chair in Antarctica and Atlantis with the guided drones could kill almost anything. I think it they should be allowed, short-range, obviously, but able to destroy the planet-bombing frigates the AI likes to

Historically, in real life, the only real counter to fighters and bombers were... fighters. That's it. Flak has always been highly ineffective, even vs linear, constant speed moving bombers like the B-17 runs at nazi Germany. In modern times, SAM are the only effective static defense, and still it isn't as effective as a good fighters. Now, going into Sci-fi, except for Star Trek, in every other major (or minor) Sci-fi movie, fighters (and bombers) are countered by other fighters: Star
I can't tell if it's your issue, but you mention your route going through a star. Stars don't count for longest trade route. They break trade chains.
Is this true?. Because in my last game I have the longest trade route starting in a star system and finishing in another.
Make sure the mod path goes like Sins of a Solar Empire\Mods\Mod Name\gameinfo (And any other folders for files used in the mod.)
It's there. The game recognizes it and loads it, apparently. It appears as enabled, but doesn't work.
Most mods don't work with 1.09 as the current mod tools are designed for 1.05. Usually, they crash the game when you try to load them.
The only tool I used was the data converter. If you read what I wrote, I just tried the mod, I didn't download a 1.05 mod, I modified the 1.09 files. The mod seems to load but doesn't work, no hangs or anything, but it works ok if I replace the files in the game folder, instead of loading the mod.

I was trying my first mod, a defensive buff mod, with the beta. I did it all according to the document, converted the bin data to text, modified, and copied everything to the mod folder. I load the mod in the game, no errors reported, start a new game, and nothing, everything is as it was before. I restart the game, no change. I convert the modified data back to bins, no luck. However, I copied the modified data to the original game folder, not to the mod folder, and it works. Are

I had the exact same thing happen to me in my last two games, both FFA. It seems the AI is a cheater, and it only attacks the player in FFA, so it's basically all vs player AVP, instead of free for all. Not only they don't attack each other, they coordinate their attacks so they are attacking in two planets at once at full force. And I hate that. It's plain, simple cheating, and it's no fun. I've played tons of games of FFA, not in this game, but others as Civilization 2-4, Galactic Ci
I agree with Howdidudothat and VARoadstter for two reasons.a) this is the kind of kill relation we have come to expect from sci fi. look at space shooters like freespace or x-wing etc. fighters dont kill big ships. in fact they dont even make a dent (I spent 15 minutes trying to kill a damaged shivan corvette once because I just wanted that kill). bombers do. thats about the only thing they do. they are a tad slower, less agile, but heavier and have the bigger guns. period.b) there is an
