I have actually experienced the opposite with my current playthrough. The setup is a 1 star map (100 or so planets) free for all with me and 6 other ai players, victory condition is set to capital planet. The ai seems to surrender as soon as i have taken one or two of their planets, eventhough iam no way near their capital world. there are 3 players left after 4.5 hours of playing. most of the map is still populated with colonies from the surrendered ais, It's seems

That's some nice suggestions. My first game in rebellion, 1 star huge map, 107 (orbiting objects), 9 opponents, 6 pirate bases, few phase lanes with the distant length nearly maxed out. Playing TEC R It has turned out to be a very interresting game, Iam still playing 19 hours in, and only eliminated 2 opponents so far. I have had to adapt to a strategy that closely resembles what you've described above. It's amazing how gameplay can change by just adjusting the len

Aren't they located in the steam folder? That't where rebellion gets installed with steam: c:/progam files/steam/steamapps/common/sinsofasolarempirerebellion folder

Can't you research planetary shields, or max out out the planetary emergency response. When I have those the cannon takes more than 2 hits to destroy a planet even the smaller asteroids. By that time I would have figured where the enemy is firing from, and take out those cannons.
How about a starbase solution? Give the pirates an 8-point starbase with an auxiliary government compartment? That way you could still bomb them to pieces, but you'd have to invade them if you wanted them to perish.
That's actually a sound idea, because I would like the pirates to stick around abit longer. they make the midgame a bit more interresting.

In 'Galactic Civilizations II', which has a more advanced diplomacy system for interaction with other AI's. Allows AI's/players to be able to trade everything from planets to technology for money or diplomatic favours. And if an AI/player is on the verge of being defeated, they can choose to surrender their remaing planets/ships to another AI/player with which they have close relations to. The diplomacy feels very much vibrant and alive, and that's just one of many aspects that make u

Yeah, or they could be given the abillity of spying/stealing tech from the 3 races. In that way they can acquire a more diverse fleet with powerful weapons, which would make them a more formidable foe in late games.

I have to say, that would be a very interresting feature to put in the game. I can already imagine invading any enemy fighting his own people(that Iam secretly funding) and facing the wrath of my fleet, victory would so sweet.

The latest episode 'Time', tried to improve the formula by using the tired 'time travel' plot device. The episode was quite watchable, we actually got to see alien lifeforms this time. I just wish they would have tied things up at the end, instead of just ending with a lousy cliffhanger, that isn't going to add anything storywise or suspensfull to the next episode.

This is a truly amazing game from bioware, it looks so beautifull and you get drawn into it's world right away(PC version). I just spent the last 10hours playing and I can't get enough, I just came here on the forums to catch a break, I can easily recommend this game to anyone who likes fantasy rpg games. It's going to keep me busy while I wait for Mass Effect 2.
Also why would ancients put stargates on inhospitable planets? And ones with no life on them?
Maybe because, hundreds of thousands of years have passed since those stargates were put on those planets. Climate change, asteroid/comet impacts, mass extinction and massive solarflares, just to name a few ways a planet can undergo dramatic changes so that life can't exist anymore.

The last episode was predictable from the get go, which shows poor writing from the writers. I have so far given SG-U a chance to flourish, and Iam still tempted to give it a few more episodes before turning it off. I have been a fan of stargate since the movie, and I would hate to see an oppotunity for a great series ruined like this. I really hope for some drastic changes storywise soon, or this bird(series) will never leave the nest.

This is a truly appreciated move by Ironclad/Stardock to expand upon the diplomatic aspect of soase. Though simple and functioning in it's current state, diplomacy is a big part of the game that needs some major upgrades. The AI sometimes behaves too erratic and the mission penalties don't always make sense. So far what I've heard about the Xpansion sounds really good. So Iam realy looking forward to this micro-expansion, just as I was with entrenchment.

The story in the movie realy does seem intense, Iam looking forward to see how this new cast of actors will work out. I hope they will have the same chemistry that made the original cast so enjoyable to watch and memorable.

Yeah, luckily I somehow bypassed the whole downloading issue and installed the game right out of the box-copy I had bought. Somehow steam kept telling me to wait for a 15gb download of the game to finish, after I activated the game through my box-copy key. I immediately cancelled the download and tried reinstalling again from the dvd and it worked, it took me 30-40min to install the game. There are some miner glitches/bugs that need to be patched, some mentioned in the above post. If

I have been reading some of the user reviews on gamespot. Some of them are furstrated over the fact that they didn't know the game required an internet connection to install, and by that reason, they are reviewing the game based on it's installation requirements than the content. I just bought a copy of the game and it clearly states on it's cover that it requires steam and internet to play. Iam not saying it's a good step creative assembly has taken but still, people should check out
