I had it break right after you colonize the first asteroid. It popped up a message about construction, and mentioned the fact that there was another tutorial with more in-depth information about that aspect of the game. I hope that's specific enough to help. I'll let you know if I find anything else.
Yeah, it definitely breaks at different times. Getting the tutorial to start is no guarantee that it will keep working. Changing the resolution has made no difference for me. If the devs are going by the information in this thread, then they're going to be barking up the wrong tree. As of right now there is no workaround. The thread title should be changed again. :)
