A good friend of mien is a gamer of sorts. She enjoy playing wow, aoc, civ4, warcraft 3 and dawn of war. She also plays what I call her "stupid games". They consist of odd little bargain bin games like puzzles and villager creators and what not. I will say the funniest thing I have ever seen her do wa in a game of Masquerade. I was teaching her the fundamentals of steathily sneaking up on your pray and feeding before anyone knew what was going on. Well, she had her own plans. She picks up the ne

I was just pointing out that it isnt our current generations moral decay that caused these issues. I would even venture toi say that it wasnt Romes either. The "morally corrupt" and "decadent" romans werent the ones who expanded the empire to the breaking point. They merely inherited a dying civilization from their forefathers. I merely contend that the same thing is happening to us. The only parts we have left to play as a generation is whether or not we are intelligent and adaptive enough to f

I have to admit, this post has gotten pretty interesting. I can't help but agree with the majority regarding the fate of the nation due to ECONOMIC collapse. I do however find fault in the "moral argument". As a matter of fact I find it damn near insulting that every time someone brings up the state of our nation "moral decay" is the first thing to fly out of some peoples mouths. Truth is the majority of those people are older citizens who view the past through rose colored glasses. Sex on TV di

I dont know whether or not the OP has played the game. But regardless, I find myself whole heartedly agreeing with him. While I do enjoy sins (enough to buy 4 copies so far) it could have been alot more then it is. The rts elements are where they need to be, but overall this game lacks ALOT of 4x features (diplomacy, espionage, random events and basically anything that doesnt have to do with fighting). Part of the novelty of a 4x game is the sense of accomplishment you feel when you go from a 1

Pirates are a blast. I find myself wishing they had capitol class ships to help overcome defenses at later levels. As is they are a slight nuisance early game and a great xp gift from your adversaries mid/late game.

I think you should take a different route and choose sci fi oriented mags too. I mean most sci fi junkies cant get enough empires and space battles. What better way then sins to craft their thoughts?

The diplomacy is pretty shotty. I choose to forego the pleasantries and instead become xenophobic. If you arent my color and I can see you, assume I will be nuking your homeworlds in due time. The trick to fighting multiple A.I's is DEFENSE DEFENSE DEFENSE. Create as many defense fleets as you have fronts. Then fortify said front worlds as best you can. Choose one front to begin pushing on. Only push on THAT front. Once you capture a world push front forward. Stick to this formula and you should

I would like a way to gauge how much culture has spread into your territory. The graphical representation seems a bit too general. Maybe an info card item would alleviate the "am I in full culture here"..or the "I wonder if I have enough to stop that creeping blue line from pushing out my creeping green one". I would also love to see a sin'o'pedia added to the game. It would give people something to read as well as important information like unit armor types and artifact descriptions.

I like the interdictor option. Make them a cap ship and limit the amount you can have. That way people have no choice but to strategically place them. Do they go offense? or defense?...how many systems lead into your core? By limiting the number of interdictors you prevent the insane turtling (or at least lmit it somewhat). said interdictors should also have a limited range (not system wide). That way you couldnt just park them at the rear of your defenses of doom.

"Without having any other info, it seems to me that being able to create strategic hardpoints with phase jump inhibitors (ones which would completely stop all phase jumping) would be a desirable thing." Unless its your fleet attacking. The total jump shutdown was a very early beta mechanic (2?). The B4 version I thought had it right. Just stop them from going deeper into your empire, not from retreating.

You can select all the ships by clicking on the left bar when soomed out of your planet (its the one that shows friendly fleets). keep clicking it, it will cycle through all the different ranges of ships..warships, fast attack craft and then colony ships.

Thanks Blair, it's good to know you understood what I was asking. I especially would love to see some AAR's for your internal games. I bet there were some epic ones.

wow...perhaps we missed the "more of the NEW features". Maybe I should create a new post "Learn to read". Thats right I went there!

Post says it all. Any chance of you guys dropping an AAr or Dev Journal detailing more of the new features?

I think a major concern of the OP is this. The problem with sandbox is that you typically get little more immersion than backstory. Even in SOTS, lets be honest you really didnt learn anything more about the engrossing back stories of each race. Instead you spent most your time researching new weapons, building more ships and fighting. Sins has the beginnings of a rich storyline and some may agrue that without the singleplayer campaign advancing said story it becomes just about the fight. Imperi

For the love of Jeebus! Are you guys going to spill the beans on the new features your implementing? I mean its 30 days away. What could it hurt?!!! I saw the stuff on the new formations...awesome. What else do you guys have up your sleaves? Any 4x features youve been playing with? Are random events in game? Hows the spying going to work? Throw me a friggin bone here people. Sharks with lasers! On a side note. I went to a friends house to show her how to play. Now, I have been using a f

Hey guys, just have a quick question. I was trying to purchase the game for a friend of mine. I wanted to get her into beta so I went ahead and got a full membership to tgn and the 10 tokens. Now Sins is a 5 token game at present. I went ahead and bought another version of sins with a different serial and installed sdc on her computer with my name and such. Now I think I downloaded the correct one onto her system. I currently have 5 points and would like to spend them on another copy for a diffe

That was FANTASTIC! Makes me wish they made sins an official b5 game =\ . But a bad ass mod will definately do.

completely agree that minbari are doable. Simply cut their crew in half, as was stated higher up. Increasing cost tends to create a steamroller effect. They would be annoyingly slow early on and retardedly strong later when theres an economy. I think halving supply is the way to go.
