Yea Sole Soul is right, its just where you look, but the Advent abilites def don't work.

If you make starbases impervious to strike craft you have a indesturctable blob that can only be taken down by the structure destroying cruisers. A way to apply some defense is build your TEC hanger bays closer to the strabase. When the strikecraft return they get eaten by the defenses. Same with the Vassari, only their starbase moves so its a little more tricky.
One thing to keep players from bypassing the starbases would be to just add a "magnent ability" to them. When a ship jumps into a planet they are pulled a little closer to the starbase, this way you can't avoid it as easily. I thought of a kind of forced attack mechanic, but I don't think taking the decision to engage out of the player's hands is necessarily the best one. Might be fun for the starbase owner to watch sh
I sense Karma in your future Anny. [e digicons]:P[/e] Anny has hit the nail on the head. The one suggestion that should be added is research options. The Starbases currently have their own research box, so why not add something similar to mines. For instance, add a larger sensor net, more explosive damage, or harder detection of phasic cloaks. You could also add some sort of mine control center as research option to allow you to
One of the things that keep poping up is AI overmining. The Hard AI will mine grav. wells with a rather distressing number of mines. The other frustrating thing is some of the changes made to the ship AI. The ships will return to their original position after being issued a move command right? Let me offer up a scenario. A scout and a bunch of light frigs are moved to destroy a minefield. They then turn around before doing anything and crash
The Advent starbase's meteriod abilites do not work. They will show the graphic hit the target, but cause no damage.
Eets can have my body, but he will never have my soul!
Thats right, yarlen has your soul and eets has your body and SINS has your mind. As evidenced by your MASSIVE karma.
Yeah but it takes off that much? That just seems wierd. Guess that I never noticed the damage changed that much.
What shields? *grumbles about barely visible shield meshes* I have noticed that you can't even see the shield meshes in standard black space without a mod, if you read this Ironclad please make them more visible or at least give players an easily accessible option to modify the visibility. That was probably of no help to you but it was a bump and I needed to get that off my chest. <b
Are you calling Yarlen the devil? Because I signed it over to him a while back..
You sure that it wasn't to eet after he was having his way with you in IRC?
Congratulations Stardock on the best strategy game not just of 2008, but of all time.
I second. This game is amazing. I wish I had the system to do it justice!
GREAT JOB DEVS! [e digicons]5*[/e] This beta is AMAZING. The mines are spectacular, starbases are amazing. I haven't seen anything on this issueso sorry if this is useless information. The main thing I wanted to point out is that the Starbases of all of the races will activiate (and move in the case of the vassari) after they make it past 17%. It seems to only happen if there is an enemy in the engagment range while the starbase is being built. The Vassari ba
Doubling the amount of squadrons you get with the Starbase hangar bay upgrade sounds about right. 4 squadrons would be on par with the other Starbase upgrades. The cost per squadron should be higher than building separate hangar bays of course.
Why not just have the option to add a hanger bay as an upgrade, and then pay for the squads? The first one is free. It becomes a little more expensive to pay for the squad each time. This way hang
YEAH!
Ok so who remembers when carriers only had one squad of strike craft and the Advent had two. That was a major point of fighting. Now the race with the STIRKE CRAFT advantage is the bane of everyone's exisitance because it is furfulling its role? It was pointed out earlier that there are plenty of good posts on the website that conteract fighter and bomber spam. First it was Korsav Spam, then LRM Spam, then Illuminator Spam, now its Carrier Spam. The de
The one thing that has annoyed me from the start is this business that John McCain and Sarah Palin are the canidates for change. The last eight years has demonstrated that the tickle down theory DOES NOT WORK. The Republican philosophy that the market can and will regulate itself is false. This was demonstrated by the WORST finanical meltdown in HISTORY. How can John McCain, who supported the Bailout plan ( by the way sisn't it classic republican philosophy to

I believe that "orgamsmic" would be appropriate here. [e digicons][/e]
Sorry Annatar! I didn't mean to come off as a jerk. :) Basically if your a player that likes to sit back and pick up the pieces of the world, Advent is the way to go.
, but allegiance gain/loss is capped so shoving 10 broadcast centers worth of culture on a culture-less hostile planet won't make it drop any faster than shoving 3 centers worth.
Unless you play Advent. The Advent are basically cultural warriors. They can increase their total loyalty by 10%. I usually build a "cultural center" per system. I stack a bunch of Broadcast towers(4+) in a desert planet close to the center. I do this all late game, usually when I a
No Phase Inhibitors do not stack. The AI and you as the player have to add more than one PJI if you seek to cover your entire planet's gravity well in the 700% phase jump penalty. After you build your PJI push the alt key the Purple ring shows its range.
HAHA :HOT: I remember the space ponnies and the flying office buildings. If you weren't a beta tester you must think we're crazy. ;p
There is an option to run the game at a higher resolution in the video menu. My comp is too slow to play everything on highest though...
This looks awesome.
