Cool, TI is one helluva game...I am lucky to have had some fairly regular games recently, even got a couple of 7 player monstrosities going thanks to the new pieces in the Shattered Empire expansion...I haven't tried playing online, have you?

Here's the problem with having an planet-to-planet adjustable tax system.... MICRO-MANAGEMENT...Such a tool is fine for turn-based game like GalCiv2, which provides warning and gives a player ample time to respond...but I can see the little "Ding - the denizens of Planet Khyron are unhappy coming in the middle of a space battle...and being rightfully ignored...the developers are trying to merge the 4x and RTS genres....so some of the more mind-numbing administrivia like resource collection a

I don't know if all the ideas here are possible, BUT I think an Gas Giants that is un-colonizable but that has a MOON that IS would be a grand idea, the perfect system to house a Pirate Base for the player to battle.... Moons in general are a great idea. Nothing major, no real taxable population, but give the player a few slots to choose: - do you arm the moon by filling it slots with tactical choices....or - do you boost the system's logistical but putting a research

Stargate has potential, but I think a game that centered more on space, like Babylon 5 would have a better shot. A) the backstory is more "open" 5 seasons of B5 vs 10 for Stargate, there's arguably more "races" at least those with ships/fleets that are part of the story-line. Without ground missions/SG-spec ops teams, you miss out on a huge part of the SG allure. Heck though, I want to be able to build Star Destroyers, Battlestars, even encounter Marauders fro

OK I take my first post on the camera. I toyed around with it just now... Holy cow, just like I wanted, having a zoom that scrolls to the cursor is just a marvelous tool in a game like this, especially after getting used to such a game mechanic with Supreme Commander. Thanks Blair....with my camera fears settled, I swear I have yet to find a single flaw in this game!!

hey I am in the Navy Carriers ARE our Capital Ships. And yes they do rely on the Battle groups for overall defense, but they are formidable in their own right. Stripped off all their support ships, a carrier still packs a serious punch. On board fighters are by the far the most potent weapon, but they are not helpless, thus position on some minor AA capabilities. It would be realistic, in a uh...intergalactic space domination game...ummm okay, I'll stop now <img src="http://images.

in essence I agree. their lack of AA is clearly an attempt to balance them out, but they should have SOME sort of indigenous AA capability (besides fighters). Their fighters should be their BEST defense, with a meager-but-capable-of-knocking-out-a-few-attackers-before-it-pecked-to-death backup

I have given this some thought and I think the easiest way to fix the pirates is to just remove the Pillagers from their fleet. It does not make sense that pirates would wipe out planets as that is what produces the plunder they are after, and insurgents would not want to wipe out planets or kill off populations. Cheers. Absolutely....why would Pirates or Insurgents intend to wipe out entire planets? The

Actually the colonize and disappear function would work quite well IMHO why, its sort of like GalCiv - the colony ship is the seed for new colony, it sorta instantly plants the flag but in order for a new colony to ship to appear at the "forward location" the new colony needs to build and populate one... And this does not completely prevent a colony race...the home planet can keep generating them... anyways, I am just starting the tutorials so I haven't really experien

Anybody every play TWILIGHT IMPERIUM ? Its basically a board game version of Galactic Civ/Sins Just hosted a 7 player, split galaxy game at my house the other night.... I like it cause it can start and end in a single night and there is live human beings with whom to socialize (as I type on a web forum)

cool am glad there is more to it like I said, its just my first go at it... I can already tell its simply amazing The for the games final release, having a camera tutorial in the basic gameplay area will be extremely helpful, but I do plan on experimenting with it.

Ok I just got done playing the very first tutorial and here is my .02 First impression: I love it!!! This game could break the sort of space opera game that defines a brand new genre That said my only real argument/slash problem is the ZOOM feature, in such an expansive empire game, with potential battles going on in multiple areas, etc. A strong intuitive zoom could make or break the game. On the plus side, you've got the STRONG part down, going in and out

I just decided to go ahead and spend the tokens on it as well. When I went to the site and saw they'd extended the deadline to the 9th for new Beta testers... After many months I am finally coming down the home stretch with Space Rangers 2
