Yarlen, thank you for chiming in. I respect your decision to make the races very similar, but disapprove on the grounds said earlier, concerning the lore. Perhaps if you were to change the background story to match the actual game better it would require minimal effort, as changing text is a lot easier to do than overthrow game mechanics and rewriting the Vasari AI to match. Or you could ignore it, of course, inaction is always a valid choice, and quite likely many customers won't care about it.
bovi
The points I was trying to make: I do not feel the Vasari are alien, as they function too much like the TEC. Their mode would perhaps be suitable for the Advent, as they come from the same stem but would branch out into a different style. The Vasari who have had no contact with humans at all until 10 years ago, though, I would expect and prefer to be radically different. I don't care all that much if they turn into either Protoss, Zerg, Minbari, Zoq-Fot-Pik or Borg, as long as th
Then it may be because I updated the game instead of deinstalling before installing a fresh one. Likely, as the culture missing string error also still pops up. ---- I got another error message that may and may not be fixed in the hotfix: Particle Simulation Definition not found: SupportBuff_WeaponJam I don't precisely what is causing it. But I would presume it is the Vasari cooldown increase structure, as I am currently attacking a Vasari colony with that present.
Researching the wave technologies of the Vasari breaks the game. The error message is "Entity Ref not found: ꬸ^RESEARCHSUBJECT_WEAPONDAMAGE_WAVE1" It cannot be skipped, as it will reappear unlimited times.
Some players here are... emphatically... shouting down valid concerns, using strawmen and irrelevancies. I think I'll exit the useless discussion on these boards and hope that the devs will consider all feedback given as it is.
Yes. But only if you pay with Totalgaming tokens. If you pay with money you have to wait for the release.
I *think* the nano disassembler gets a longer duration when upgrading. I believe I used it on a cobalt on level 1, not entirely killing it, then killing a kodiak later without any further firing on level 3. Your point remains though, and I second it: More information about what the next level gives is necessary.
I gather that most of the AI work for beta4 was done on getting the Vasari to work on a basic level. I'm afraid that this means there will be no major changes possible for them, as it would require much of that work to be completely redone. There is certainly a greater need for improving the AI overall efficiency in the little remaining time, so on these grounds I do not recommend redoing the Vasari. But I think I will not be alone in being disappointed with the lack of variety.
They're coming from across the galaxy, why would they have the same styles of warfare? Because the TEC learned war from the Vasari, duh.
Perfecting the enemy technology and deploying it into the whole military in 10 years...? I know the research in-game is way accelerated for fun factor, conceivably allowing TEC to annul the Vasari advantage o
I agree the races are too similar, this was a big disappointment. They're coming from across the galaxy, why would they have the same styles of warfare? See the ancient times of the Earth, the variety of combat styles resulting from distance (slowing influence on each other) and different terrain causing different styles to be superior and therefore dominant, from the ambush by light forces in the forests via the phalanx/testudo turtling warfare around the mediterranean to the mobile firepower o
Building the Vasari culture thing results in a freeze and this error message: "Failed to find StringID: 'IDS_PLANETDETAILSINFOCARD_ALLEGIANCEDETAILS_DELTAFROMCULTURE'. NOTE: Any following StringID failures will be supressed." The game can continue if you click Skip however.
ill just hurry up and tell im not a she but a he, as eet might say otherwise
It's a fairly bad choice of username and avatar, if you don't want to come off as a woman. Could I ask why you chose those?
That's odd, I'd imagine beta tester response was necessary for good balance between all the races, not just two. Probably counting on post-release updates to make game balance good then? I have had a very good experience with Stardock's support of their products, so I'm not very worried.
In Rise of Nations you definitely had to gain the map to keep harvesting optimally. There were natural resources that you had to get inside your borders. Age of Empires III has an infinite resource model. You can build lots of farms/plantations inside your little town and harvest indefinitely. You'll have to pay through the nose for wood though, but there is no pressing need for controlling the map. Sins has as much an infinite resource model as RoN has, you need to gain a big
I would join the game, unfortunately my internet connection is really unstable, dropping out every 1 to 500 minutes. Yes, it might work for the entire game, but it could drop out immediately too, ruining the game for the others. I'll get more active once I get my net fixed, as the single player is quite un-fun with the poor AI opponents.
Is there any way to set the time zone? The EST times are somewhat confusing to my European self. I am sure I'll become used to it eventually, but I'd prefer to get my local time or at least UTC.
I was repeatedly annoyed by having to wait for queuing up something I wanted, particularly for big projects like a capital ship or a really expensive research project or planet development. It also meant I had to stop building other things that would be naturally unconnected and going on in parallel in order to save up for my big order, such as building a frigate while the frame for my capital ship was being constructed and research for better colonization of arid planets was trudging a
Oh. Then it's quite confusing that there pops up a dialog asking if you want to send the minidump or not... I'll mail the minidump along with the savegame then.
Sorry to break up an important conversation . When I saved my game and tried to reload it, it failed. A minidump was generated, and I accepted sending that at the confirmation question. Will you have need of the savegame too to see why it fails to load? BTW, I loaded the autosave instead, which fortunately was just a few minutes before, and worked fine.
For now, you can still target the 0% structures. It's tricky on asteroids because half the time it's the asteroid itself and you need to be careful with where you click to point to the building on the asteroid
Really? I built a gauss defence really close, and it didn't shoot. I suppose I will have to manually target with a ship then. Thanks!
Alright, this is my first bug report, after my first game in the beta, played against the AI to get into the game. I realize that you are primarily looking for multiplayer issues, and I have not read the other bug reports, so this might be superfluous. Anyway: When I destroy the defences of the AI, it will often start rebuilding mines on nearby asteroids. This is quite alright, however when I destroy the constructor they are left with 0 hit points. Having eradicated the rest of the enem
You can download the beta as soon as you buy it with the tokens. Make sure you have "show pre-release versions" checked, and you should be able to download it.
Ah, of course, I forgot the pre-release checkbox. Thanks a lot!
I notice in the FAQ it says
If I buy the game using TotalGaming.net tokens, can I get access to the beta even though it may be closed? Yes, since tokens are deducted immediately, TotalGaming.net members always gain instant access to betas.
I gather this is not quite the case with this game, at least the game isn't available for download. Might be an idea to change that entry. I was warned when buying it earlier today (Multianna's video caught me) though,
