supernovas would be sorta unfair, but I'd like to see a "realism mod" which made planets and ships smaller in comparison to stars and replaced "resources" with things like black holes and nebulas, for example research starbase would orbit black hole, military starbase would orbit asteroid field, economy starbase would orbit nebula... just thoughts

first of all, they aren't selling at as much of a loss as you might expect, since they mass-produce a single graphics card in far greater quantities than pc ones are made. in the end, its cheaper to have a low-end pc and a new console, even though console games are too expensive these days, than a high end pc. EVEN IF you pirate all your games for pc. the reasons I stick w/ pc (unless halo 3 is less of a disappointment than halo 2) are the modding community for half-life2 (and hopefully oblivion

imo having ships that hit one edge come out at the other is a bad idea, but if a true 3-d galaxy could be implemented in an expansion pack (i.e., some stars are higher and lower than others) it would be VERY COOL. and the level of strategy would be increased. the milky way might be flattish, but if you look at the night sky its pretty obvious there are some stars that are higher and lower than others <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles

heros are VERY well done in the total war games and in knights of honor, the same sort of hero system could be used in galciv, though it might be hard to structure them into the game, and the military options are too limited (ie, no seiges, supplies, or tactics) for them to have any military abilites besides attack, defense, and speed bonus

woot, I was hoping for cloak... on a suggestions note, as I said before asteroid fields, nebulas, gas clouds and such could also replace those completely arbitrary colored resource nodes... personally I don't like the idea of chokepoints, space is open and any obstacle can be easily circumvented, unlike in a civ type game where there are mountains and such

race specific planetary improvements and techs would also be nice, as would some kind of command ship that acts as a basic military starbase but can move

um, how do you change the logistics upgrades so that fleets contain more ships? I mean, is the file that controls logistics a txt or something I can edit easily, and where is it... I want bigger battles

it seems strange to me that there is no option to build some sort of mining starbases on stars or on gas giant planets... wouldn't it make sense for advanced civilizations to make use of these massive resources, instead of mining strange colored polygons in deep space? I know "realism" is a sketchy topic in a sci-fi game, but it seems weird that most of the solar systems in the galaxy are "useless"

I've been playing nonstop and I felt the lack of a few things. First of all, some sort of stealth technology, which would render ships invisible. Maybe this could be countered by higher levels of sensor. Wormholes for fast transportation between star systems would be awesome, especially since they already exist as anomalies. (Perhaps make the wormhole anomalies permanent ?) The option to attack planetary improvements with ships would be nice, as an alt
