All this sounds good. I like that you can terraform an unhabitable planet into a habitable one. It keeps the game and the universe more dynamic, in the move. It won't start feeling static and that would be bad. Right now GC2 is very solid, but perhaps even a bit too so. It'd be great if there would be totally different races that each would really function in a different way and not just have +20 in research instead of +5 or +0. Then different inventions could/would different value to certain ra

I don't read many/any magazines anymore, but some web ads have been good source of information a bit surprisingly. Ads that don't flash or make annoying sounds or try to sell me something via a DD breasted blonde or have other annoying infomercialisms (that was a fine word I admit) can be useful. I found a few new games from ign ads, some movies and other interesting things. Axe trying to convince me that I'll get laid if I use their product is not very appealing, but a new fantasy based rolepla

Usually I pick some sort of a big galaxy, common star systems and habitable planets. Normal or sometimes slow tech rate, clustered stars and common anomalies. Also, nowadays I disable the ally victory. I like to have somewhat tight empire and this suits my purposes well. Also in a big galaxy I get to choose plenty of other races. Which sadly makes the militaristic victory a bit hard, but it still is more fun. I've noticed that you absolutely positively do want 2-3 planets

I'd rather see some depth to the game. I'm not sure how drastic changes an expansion pack can have without becoming a sequel, but in a strategy game I'd like to see more than just the same old. And of course improvements to the UI are always very welcome. What I really wouldn't like to see is adding length to the tech tree or just bigger galaxies or similar. Rather something completely new. GalCiv2 is a fine game already, but it does lack some personnality. The races are pretty similar (they all

"Any resolution" usually has some lower limit. Like 2x2 wouldn't be that interesting. If you make the UI to work the best at 1024*786 it probably means it's a bit clumsy at 800*600. Let's still hope you'll be able to play it with the tv.

I like the idea. Eg. WH40k dawn of war is a very good game and the universe seems very interesting. I haven't played the actual Warhammer though.

Is it? What a weird system. Still the info screen claims that I had less and less population each month/year/week. That's the weirdest thing I've heard. Like children aren't people at all. Planet could be deserted and full of life at the same time. Also I guess only tax paying people can be drafted and sent as colonists.

I agree with the most of the things you said. That rally point thing, dead zone ending the turn, demolish thingie etc. Let's see if it's fixed anytime.

That's an interesting idea, Jub. That would be more than a subtle difference and things like that could make the races truly different and also add some flavour.

I'd like to see some UI fixes too to make the game more fluent to play. Like when selecting and moving ships you don't always know what they're going to do, which ship actually is going to move. Also sometimes when I make a group of ships sometimes the game deselects the whole fleet, sometimes not. Also the rally point window seems to open with a delay. It might open after I close the screen where I pushed that button to set a rally point. Pretty hard to describe all this stuff, but to me it's f

I also remember another thing. In one of my first games I had to set the taxation rate to 100% which made me very unpopular, around 0%. People started dying, oh boy and how. In a week perhaps around 20 billion people vanished somehow, presumably killed themselves. 3 times the current population of earth blew their brains out each week. 3 billion a day. That means a lot of copper, lead, hemphrope and razor blades. In that game I learned that it's not a good idea to buy anything in dept. 3

I find it funny too how large masses are fighting wars. A slight bloodfest if 10-20 billion people die. It's also a bit big transport ship if it can carry and support eg. 1 000 000 000 soldiers. The game doesn't seem to make a difference wether the soldier is a grandma, an infant or the Rambo himself. You can drain a planet's population freely till there's just a few million left. Perhaps they've read too many soviet army strategy guides.

Most likely 1.2 will come out exactly 2-4 weeks after the deadline they announce It's like that sometimes. Last minute changes and bugs that are found mean last minute testing which leads to last last minute bug reports and last last last minute testing... It's a common thing in software development. Let's just hope it'll be a good one, just like 1.1 was/is.

"Males are more logic then women" well at least cari must be more skilled in english but seriously speaking, it doesn't matter much what the average of a sex is since individuals are doing the work anyway. Cari might be more "logic" than 99.9% of men. She's not less logical or worse designer, nor better either, no matter what the average talent is. That's why it's useless to bring up some generalization.

A female developer? That's graet, absolutely great. Women have broader view than men usually do. There should be a lot more. The games would probably have a more human feel. Not to mention of course that GalCiv2 itself is awesome.

I don't miss multiplayer one bit. Internet is a crappy place play with people unless you know them well enough. Somewhere in this site someone put it quite well. Only 10% or so games are really satisfying and the other 90% not. People leave when they're not winning, they're abusive, cheat and so on. Besides, turn based strategy games are not the best ones for mp anyway.
