and for ppl that wondered what yadida is: its pronounced ya-di-da and it means like bla-bla-bla
Ah, ok. It looks like an alternate spelling of "yadda yadda" then. The Urban Dictionary lists yadida as a reference to a rap song lyric. Thanks for the clarification.

If a company can be said to have a soul, candy-coating a DRM system to trick users into accepting the concept would be a starkly easy way for that soul to be lost. The major example that comes to mind is Google's "do no evil" creed crumbling due to cynical corporate greed over the China market and their requirement that information be systematically censored for that customer base.

Those are too easy. I was thinking more along the lines of a "suicide by cop" scenario, where you provoke another civilization into attacking you, giving them invasion tech if they don't already have it.

It's not a paradox; in fact, the best use of time travel to fix a problem in the past is one where the resultant timestream has absolutely no further access to time travel. Do it once, do it right. I think perhaps that the Thalans are not sufficiently omniscient to be able to check their work before the final commit; nor are they sufficiently omnipotent to make the correct edit.
you do not need permission from most companies to make a mod. a mod in itself is basically a HUGE FREE AD. i believe the star wars mod doesn't have permission, because it doesn't really need it.
I've tried to educate people about basic misconceptions like this one, but the power of wishful thinking is just too overwhelming to make a dent in it. Just the same, you should be aware that even if you do all the art from scratch, it's still a "derivative work" and you can be squished like a bug if the company that owns the property notices and decides to take action. At that point, Stardock and its allied companies would likely need to slap the mod down to keep them safe from legal retaliation. For safety's sake, none of the many mods derivative of TV shows, movies or books should be approved for placement in Stardock's mod l

I was able to update Sins of a Solar Empire and the GC2: Twilight of the Arnor beta using Impulse, and again was unable to update Space Rangers 2 with the same error message as before. I'm thinking that a full uninstall and reinstall of Space Rangers 2 might be the next logical troubleshooting step.
