I think it has SecuRom, but not the very bad version(exSpore). It also doesn't have activation limits I am aware of. The main problem I have with it is GFWL. From what I can tell, you need to log into GFWL to even save your single player campaign games. At least I couldn't load my progress when I went back to it several months ago after not playing for a while(I got to the final campaign). It also refused to let me log into my GFWL account unless I shut down XF

Well the weapon bank system for Entrenchment should help capitals a bit. The best way to use the system would be to increase the maximum number of targets for each weapon bank as the capital ship levels up, Say one extra target every two levels. Another solution would be to change the Capital Ship slot research to improve capital ships will each level researched. What I think would encourage use of capitals while keeping early game balance is for capital ship build a
I like games that are as open ended as possible. Freelancer is a good example of this as you could go where you wanted between missions and could keep playing after you completed the main storyline(with a cool campaign only ship near the end as well). I think the game should have both magic and technology. It could focus on a conflict between them or combine them for a very powerful result. At very high levels Clarke's law could come into effect.
One problem with Impulse is the lack of an estimated download time. Given the size of games(say The Witcher), I would like to have an easy way to know how much longer a download is going to take so I can make plans around what time it will be finished. An 'Estimate Download Time' button that checks your connection to Stardock before you download would also be nice. One thing I miss from Stardock Central is being able to view and download demos on the games page. It
I havn't tried modding sins myself, but I have considered it. Having a ship editor like GCII's would help both people new to modding and those with experience. For me to give $10-20, a ship editor for SINS would need the following: - Ability to import custom pieces designed in a different editor(This would make what the editor could do almost limitless) - Ability to combine pieces into custom ones .(This would help if the same pieces are used toget
Just checked, they are stored in .shipcfg files which can be opened by notepad. It looks like the game then builds the ships from the data in the files ex S0_Avatar.shipcfg contains: [HULL] Version=26 BASE_HULL=S0_Large_1.x Dummy07=S99_Structure156.x Dummy07_Scale=0.875000 Dummy07_Yaw=-1.570796 Dummy07_Pitch=0.000000 Dummy07_Roll=-1.221730 Dummy07_AnimationType=0.000000 Dummy07_AnimationSpeed=0.000000 Dummy07_Component=St
Yes, this is all very true. The TCA has the Kol Beta as their Titan for now. It is about 75% larger than the current Kol, and uses the Kol model that was in the Beta releases of Sins.
I think no matter how good you protect a game it allways will be hacked and be put on the internet.
I would say that is the 'golden truth' about video games which companies like Stardock and Valve know. Certain other companies need it drilled into their thick skulls. It is real hard to arugue against piracy in cases like this where the pirated version is significantly better t
The last time I used GfWL in game, it still had the A and B buttons for a controller - someone was too lazy to change them to okay and cancel/go back. It also refused to connect while Xfire was running, turning off Xfire let me log into my profile in game. The only plus side of the situation was that Universe at War was a gift.
Wow, I never thought anything would top the fact that the pirated version of Spore had better performance than the legal one . . . I don't want to know what could top this, oh wait I just thought of something: EA switching from SECUROM to Starforce - aka the-product-made-by-the-poor-losers-who-posted-a-working-link-to-a-GCII-torrent-to-prove-you-need-DRM The sad thing is I can see EA doing that.
I like they way Emperor: Battle for Dune did exclusive units if I remember right. After a period of time, the units were unlocked for everyone to use. The Age of Empire III collectors edition was f**king awesome and sets the standard for others. It had posters, soundtrack, a demo disk to give to a friend, and best of all: a 208 page hardcover book of artwork. NWN2 was very guilty of the exclusive content issue - with exclusive content
As for "needing" to maneuver - why, when the ships presumably have tracking computers sophisticated enough to not care?
Weapon Firing Arcs. If the weapon can't physicaly aim at where you are, then even 100% hit rate will not help. Good point on the number of ships involved though - it would make large battles much more confusing. Having it as a mod option would be very nice, say by giving each ship a flight physics entry, ex movemen
Gauss Blast no longer uses asteroid for its travel effect.
I say leave it in until the beta is over. One question about weapon banks: Can the targeting capacity be upgraded in any way? Such as a targeting module for starbases after they have all previous weapon modules. Giving capital ships more targeting capacity as they level up would be a nice touch, say 1 aditional target every 2 levels for secondary we
Interesting comments. I was taken by surprise alright the first time the AI took my valor flag while all the towers were still up. Any chance of making the AI remember and change based on player actions? Right now the same tactic can be used over and over again. An example of this is laying down mine fields as Regulus between the AI's citadel and one of their portals. After the dying twice in a row it would be nice if they would check for mines t
This idea came about from brainstorming on the Demigod IRC channel. The basic idea was to link flags in the same path like nodes from Unreal Tournament. The result would be that in order to take a flag in the enemy base, a team would need all the neutral flags between the bases in the same line as the flag they want. To use the current map as an example, to take the enemy's Valor flag, you must control the middle experiance flag as it is in the same path as the valor flags
How good are the controls to move your view around? After playing SupCom, Sins and Demigod I find it restrictive to not be able to use cursor zoom in other games. In Demigod, using WASD to move the camera with Q and E to rotate really works for me. Can the DoW2 beta be set up like that? For movies, Damnatus was decent if you can get your hands on it with subtitles. Shame Games Workshop blocked its release as a result of German law.(Pretty sure
When you fill out your shipping information(name, address, email etc), there should be two check boxes near the bottom of the information area. The lower one should be the one to check of you want to sent a gift to some one. If the box is checked, the continue button will bring you to a screen to enter the information of the person getting the gift.( I use the gift option to bill to one email address and send what I buy to my Impulse account address)
Sent you a pm with the email I used for billing Frogboy. Out of curiosity, does this mean that people can't get Demigod on Impulse as a gift for others? I checked the image I took when I pre-ordered, and it definetly has my Impulse email under the 'Gift for' section. I mentioned that in the response I sent you yesterday along with my pre-order number.
For #1, I got my computer from Falcon Northwest and got some updates from Microsoft's website recently so I can rule that out. For #2, I used a different email for the billing address, but I used my Impulse account email in the 'gift to' section. I have never had a problem with doing so before.

Looks good. For the first picture, the background colors need to be changed. Also, why are only four demigods selectable? For the second picture, the red and green circles are nice for telling which side a demigod is on. Also, nice looking 'dark' version of Oak. I take it that means all demigods have a 'dark' look now( or does it mean players can select custom colors for their demigods? That would be even better.). Put me down as another person who wa
This is an idea for the achievements viewable for each Demigod from the main menu. Currently the they only provide favor points and have no other use. What I propose is that a 'Title' is given for each achievement that can be selected from like favor items. The title would be based on the achievement and would be added to a player's name. Ex Unknown924 => Unknown924 the Patriot Only one title would be permited per game with no switching, like favor items are
Looks good, what about mentioning that an Impulse Account requires an e-mail address for people new to Impulse? Such as : "An Impulse account requires a valid e-mail address." I would also add a mention about how a customer can retrieve keys from Impulse, such as "Once registered, the DVD key can be sent to the e-mail address associated with your Impulse account at any time." I found crafting very useful in Storm of Zehir, once you get the right recepies of course. Early on an archery focused Ranger using a bow with elemental damage bonuses is very powerful, if you have the gold for the enchantments. Crafting is also very powerful as some of the enchantments that can be applied to weapons are almost impossible to find in store bought weapons. For example, I made my Doomguide a bastard sword with the Holy property, fire damage, and +2. Also,
