Scouts. Scouts: -cost about or less than half as much as a light frigate -do the SAME DPS to LRMs -Take LESS damage from LRMs (2/3 what light frigs take) If he LRM rushes you, just send scouts at him.

Why? They are combat ships-all ships are. However, their power lies in their special abilities, not their regular guns. Also, what makes you think an LRM frigate is "thin skinned"? LRMs are -big- ships, as all frigs are.
His flaks only get in range of your strike craft if you LET them, and they are pretty easy to kill with medium frigs. I get cruiser carriers early on and never regret it.
Can someone provide a recorded game that uses fighters and bombers to win? I understand it's just a part of the fleet and all but if you're saying that in muliplayer games bombers and fighters can play a major role in victory I'd love to see a recorded game. And I'm not sure how to record but this is an option no? Maybe I can just make a custom game that starts 2 sides right next to each other with huge fleets with an even point balance and see how that works... In my ex
I think that micromanaging at a leisurely pace is great and strategy-free twitch gaming with "select all your units and click on something till it's dead" is the worst.
I think your view of RTS is -really- skewed. There's a fair bit more strategy in most RTSes than you're willing to admit. That said, SoSE is on a very large scale and has an interface that minimizes micromanagement. There is some, you will need to adapt to it, but I think mos
This is why at least the combat Cap ships need to be enhanced. The Iowa class battleships that you referenced were/are capable of destroying any frigate with a single salvo from its nine sixteen inch guns. Considering the cost in crew/supply/materials/credits, shouldn't the Kol/Radiance/Devastator be equally capable?
SoSE is not set in modern-day America. Just because the Kol/Radiance/Devastator share the "Battleship" title doesn't mean they are the same thing.<
Mitigation doesn't care if the 250 points come from 1 unit or 10 units, thus focus fire does nothing to influence mitigation.
Irrelevant. A better way of looking at it is that it encourages you to spread your DPS out.
Alright. The Rapture battlecruiser has an ability called "Vengeance". When used on an allied unit, a certain % of damage taken is dealt back to the enemy. However, there's no duration on this. How does it work? Does it reflect all damage taken for the next X seconds? Does it affect enemies that have attacked it in the past?
I really don't see anything in the storyline that supports this contention. The developers put in a lengthy leveling system for Cap ships to encourage the early game utilization of smaller craft, not to make them the centerpiece of your fleet throughout the span of the game. However players take advantage of this and spam/quick rush these low cost units and in doing so relegate Cap ships to supporting roles. In essence, players have dictated the storyline.
No, t
You must see capships with regards to SOSE's logic/story. In SoSE, Capships are not wtfpwnships. Capships are support ships, command platforms if you will. Which brings me to another point- Frigates are not tiny. Frigates are pretty damn big. *Fighters* are tiny. Frigates and cruisers are supposed to be the bulk of your force, and capships are meant to support them. This is not Star Wars or Star Trek or . Just because
Bombers/fighters are awesome, I don't know what game you're playing. Their strength is in their "Alpha" damage. Because they do huge damage in a single pass, but don't do another pass for awhile, they block the effects of shield mitigation. They fly in, do HOLYWTFOMG damage to a ship while it's still at 15% shield mitigation... Shield mitigation skyrockets, then goes down, down down...and then they strike again. 4-5 fighter squads (depending on race, upgrades, etc.) can instantly wipe a
Ofcourse, I can be really devious and just bid higher then other people. 1000 credits for 25 ships to attack a random enemy planet (to the death) is one heck of a deal. Sure his cap might level from it, but I will take some of his planets and use the money to build a bigger fleet that will wipe away his capital ship.
No decent player is realistically going to lose a planet to that.
Did they get reduced hps, or...?
People spam for two reasons. 1) It's effective, 2) they suck In SOSE, people spam for reason #2. Yes, it's annoying to have to counterspam, but what can you do? You can't force people to not spam. The best option is to simply play against better players...
Bombers. ' Also, does anyone know if the Advent Domina Subjugator's ability works on them, or just frigates?

Is there anything good about Martyrdom that makes it good compared to the timed explosive? Or is timed explosive just all-out better?
Alrighty. I am having some nasty performance issues with SoSE. When the large battles come around, my computer starts bogging down and screwing with the graphics does nothing to help. I have the latest video drivers... any ideas? My computer -should- be able to handle this. Here's the contents of the DXDiag ------------------ System Information ------------------ Time of this report: 3/3/2008, 18:56:06 Machine name: USER-OH0ZEU4AU1<b
There's already an upgrade that makes siege frigs less effective...the emergency facilities upgrade is comparatively cheap and with it, a planet has SIX THOUSAND hitpoints.
Yeah. In a recent game I got a bunch of illums between the guy's LRMs.
