The Saga of Seven Suns by Kevin J. Anderson.
Psymon
Ok, download is done, I've patched it and done the tutorial. I should still be down as Psymon.
If my download ever finishes all the way through (my internet connection doesn't appear to like me) I'll see you guys online. I'll be the one getting my sorry arse handed to me.
It's the smallest number that allows easy balancing and doesn't look rubbish. You'll also get more playstyles in. If you have two races, they tend to end up as being either the same or polar opposites. Usually this means one has a small number of powerful but expensive units (Starcraft Protoss, Red Alert Soviets etc.) and the other has a horde of cheap ones (Zerg, Allies). If you add a third race you can put them in the middle ground (like Starcraft's Terrans) and result in every playstyle havin
I like the look of the Kol, it reflects the Trader mindset: 'Right, we're in our first war for a millenium. NOW WHAT THE HELL DO WE DO???'
Be aggressive when colonising. I usually build about ten cobalts to back up my flagship if I get in a scrap over a planet. In most of my games, crystal has been scarce, but I just figured this out: Arctic planets have oodles of it! Grab them fast. You'll probably end up with a metal surplus (I do) so make extensive use of the black market and research your way to trade ports fast.
I think of it as how Haegemonia: Legions of Iron should have been. Or Supreme Commander but good.
I'm a devoted Hiver player, though I do play the other races, most commonly humans. Current game's getting a bit dull, just me and a liir faction left. Chances of an NAP, let alone an alliance, are slim, so it's just going to be a hard slog for his worlds by my siege dreads.
Something I think would be cool, have a voice for if your fleet knows it's outnumbered. Say you get jumped by a fleet twice your size, you then here: "OH frak, (or Sins universe expletive) they're everywhere!"
