I think you are right. Bought the game ages ago but not played . Probably updated by Steam. Seems a bit poor that an update not save compatible. Most other games don't seem to have a problem. Anyway started new games and save working OK. Thank for reply.

Finally started to play this game last night. After a few attempts on "normal" it seems I am getting it at last. Start the game today and all my saves are gone, just as I seemed to be winning. I can see them in the game save directory but not in game to load. Am I missing somthing
Hi, I had a black screen on startup. When I enabled Nvidia 3D the game started OK. Looks like 3D must be enabled even though my monitor does not support 3D.
Hi Fixed as above . Downloaded and saved latest Impulse. Uninstall Impulse. Install Impulse on same drive as Sins of ... All now OK can update and have installed Entrenchment.
I am having the same problem .I wont buy the expansion unless I can fix this. I get a decompression error when Impulse tries to update.
Hi Drish311 and Serondal, when you say you enjoy the diplomacy. What size maps and how many AI players do you use ? To win you have to be the most powerful , once you are the most powerful the AI will concentrate on you. On a large / very large map with 8 AI players this seems to make defence impossible. I dont have any trouble with small maps or few players. One other thing , can you explain the value of a trade alliance , I cant seem to see any additional income.
I found my previous post locked after much tooing and froing before I got back to the replies.. I just wanted to say thanks for the informative inputs. The revelation that Locked Teams become Unlocked on reload ( and the workaround) will greatly improve my playing experience. With the Teams Locked option "on" AI players were definitely giving missions and I could see groups of three AI in sectors massing their fleets with no conflict among them. This is not supposed to happen with
The fact is the Diplomacy is rubbish. If you play on a large map against 6 or more players you will find yourself 1 against the lot which is impossible. Most of the early AI missions are on the other side of the map or otherwise undoable. You on the other hand cannot initiate anything. I cant believe the AI has any missions to fill other wise they wouldnt all wind up on the same side. After a while the AI stops fighting amongst itself and concentrates on you. As you expand there are more and more
I have played a few single player games and on the larger maps , with teams locked, it seems the AI players always gang up on me. The diplomacy stinks. The missions from AI are usually impossible. ie the other side of the map . The player cannot initiate any requests. All this means is that even with a max fleet you cannot defend against two or three AI players who mass at a single point. On larger maps you cannot continue to expand because the further you go the mo
