Side note: the resaerch is always on the civic side of things, not the military side.

I've actually had some problems with the vasari phase gate and pathing. Certain points to other points on the larger maps refuse to use the gate path instead of the long route. I've noticed this happens more often when wormholes are on the map, and the wormhole is researched.
