Sorry, I've not had any problem taking on the Advent any more than any other race. I can not relate.
Bacon. I want a heaping plate of bacon to eat while I enjoy ruling my empire. If you can manage that for me, anything else is just a bonus! Seriously though, there are sevearl enhancements I could suggest, but at the moment I am not at home to play the game and make a list, so that'll come later. In the meantime, get in the kitchen and fix me some bacon!!!!!
Probably not. Games to movies/tv rarely happen, and almost never successfully (Uwe Boll must burn!)
I do like the backstory for Sins, and I'm especially interested in the Vasari. What caused their massive empire to suddenly collapse? Exactly who (or what) are they running from, and did that have to do with why their empire died? And perhaps most imporant of all, what'll happen if/when the Vasari's mysterious persuers finally catch up with them while they're still passing through TEC space? Needless to say, I'm already looking forward to when Ironclad gets around to releasing t
Ohh yes, my two more experienced fleets reaped a terrible vengeance. Level 10 kortuls tend to kill things quite dead.
Shhhh...there be spelling trolls abouts... I once seen one bite a mans head clean off!
There's no way to reasonably balance the game in such a way that one player can stand up to, let alone win against, two other players who are as competent as he is (or nearly so). There are countless strategy games that contain this "flaw"... if you get ganged up on two to one, you're going to lose, even if you're strong and smart. Also: If you allow people to build more ships based on the planets they control, then "underdog" players (who control less territory) have ev
I thought I was watching the game, but no it is watching ME. What do I mean? Well, I have been playing some extended games with each faction, getting to learn their ins and outs. Today was the Vasari. So I had this long game going and I had intentionally ground to a stalemate with the AI. We both owned about half the systems and I had access to my empire bottlenecked to three systems, each protected by a capable fleet. I was content to let the AI keep sending
I wonder this myself.
1) Other than Star Trek, none of the rest of your list actually had large sized moving ships. And Star Trek is a poor comparison because it really has no *small* ships. Starships of similar size are your bread and butter. 2) Naval warfare really has nothing to do with space warfare, and I'm pretty sure other than drifting on water all those lumbering carriers and battleships don't do intricate maneuvers. The rest of maneuvering into position in Sins is done by you the player. [/q
Thank ya!
...but is there a way to shut off the entire UI (to sit back and enjoy the carnage)?
I'm just going to side step the present arguements and say a few things. 1) Moving ships are less a realism factor than a dramatic factor. Would the starship battles in Star Wars, Star Trek, Babylon 5, Star Wars Empire at War, and yes...Homeworld be as visually exciting if the ships all just stood in place like British Red Coats waiting to be shot? 2) Real world naval battles are (or were) very much a matter of manuever and position. Much modern sci-fi has taken up that notion
Agree totally. The siege firepower is fine (it keeps offensive sieges from taking a lifetime to deplete significant colonies), but the durability of siege ships is the real issue. Let's make smart placement of defensive turrets more of a factor. Also, he's right, it would make those supporting ships a more attractive option. Any homogenous "zerg" rush, in my opinion, weakens the over-all tactical complexity of a game (witness C&C3, which I love, but is all about the big gun rush).
There is definet
Yes, we are waiting for a general concensus and some more detailed in-house analysis of the current balance. Let's just see how the numbers go this week. Perhaps there is an evolving counter strategy that will become next week's dominate and make the siege one obsolete. That's the way rts's go sometimes, not always, but sometimes. We are keeping a close eye on it.
There is definetly room for further investigation of this, but let me be the first to say th
In a big enough game when you have the points to spend, certain cruisers can make great compliments to your cap-ships due to their special abilities. At a certain breakpoint, I just ditch any frigates I have left and replace them with cruisers of the sorts I find most usefull. There are certainly some cruiser/capship special ability combos that can really put a crimp on your opponents fleets. It's something you have to experiment with to start seeing the potential.
Yeah, a planetary shields upgrade would be nice to give system defences a chance to do its job. Then again enough bomber squadrons and fleet ships can make a difference, though your planet is certainly going to take some abuse. Gun turrest work, but you have to give careful consideration to how you layer your defenses (mutiple layers of overlapping fire zones help a lot).
Yeah Ironclad and Stardock are really starting to set a positive standard in how to support gamers. And StarDOCK Central is such a simple, clean utility for downloading/updating games. These guys know that sometimes the KISS (keep it simple stupid) principal really pays off.
Ahem...wish there was an edit function...cough... I'll be breaking my fingers now...
I know not of what you speak. Unless, of course, you mean the Advent, then I agree :CONGRAT:

Couldn't really say myself. I'm of the "the only diplomacy that matters can be found in the barrel of a gun" mindset.
Just wanted to say congrats to the Ironclad crew! Great game. I've been in beta and am glad to see the refinements made to the game. Keep'em coming, there are UI improvements to be made! Not that I'm complaining, the game is superb. But seriously, I'm am very impressed with Blair Fraser and his crew (and the Stardock peeps too). The level of interaction with the forums and community, the open mindedness and plain talk with the players, the fact that you even take the time to ta
Now witness the firepower of this fully armed and operational battlestation! (cough) Sorry, don't know what came over me.
Hehe, I did the same thing at first ;) Welcome to the party.
