There's also no sound in space, so there should be no sound effects. There's no air in space, so there should be no fireball explosions. It's also impossible to travel faster than the speed of light, so there should be no jumping from planet to planet. You couldn't build a spaceship or colonize a planet in a matter of seconds, either, so the game should take years to play. See where I'm going with this? There's air inside the ships though, so fireball explosions are okay.

I find it oddly soothing to zoom in on my trade drones and watch them zip from planet to planet. Try it some time while you're waiting for upgrades or ship production or whatnot.
I do that myself. Relaxing way to wait out those research queues. Hmmm Novalith at the sun? (surely won't do anything, but its still a tempting idea)

I played Advent recently and sent a tremendous fleet of Illuminators and Crusaders at them, backed by some cap ships. Wiped the floor with them. Never seen so many beam weapons fire at once in my life.

I am hoping one of our modders can make a slight tweak to the Kortul Devastator model. I''d like to see some sort of "bridge" protruding from that long dorsal grove on the Kortul. The rest of the ship looks great, but that long featureless groove to me just says "incomplete". I think it is the perfect place for some sort of bridge or observation deck. That having been said, I like the Advent voices so :d You can't have my child-bride army! Mine, not yours!!!
.After 10 hours of gameplay I must say this game is a strong winner for online and competition play. I dont like the game at all though..I am an offline soloer and this game cannot meet my requirements in the simplest fashions..It is really too bad...The rest of the game is totall acceptable if I played it online. to those who play....Enjoy..it seems to have the ratings from the magazines to go far.
Congratulations! You formed an opinion! +1 cookie

Irrelevant. Unless you are considering buying the game, reviews and scores are pointless, from the player persepctive at any rate. The only review score that should matter to an individual gamer is their own. I don't need some anonymous critic to tell me my opinions. Now if you are using reviews to consider the prospects of a game, take the score and average them across several reviews, and be sure to read the reviews for elements that draw praise or criticism from across the board. Garda's come in handy when your foe shows up at your doorstep with a fleet full of carriers and light carriers (I'm looking at YOU TEC/Advent players X-( )
Anyone remember Star Control?
How could I forget. I miss the days when developers had fresh ideas, most computer games had a stunning amount of depth in them, and the games weren't all "clone number XVII" of the same tired formulas over and over again (or worse still, dumbing down of once deep games...cough...Invisible War...cough...)
Chatting in ALL has it's advantages and disadvantages. For the most part it's easy to get around. But in a game where someone is losing it is inevitable someone is going to talk trash, and beyond trash. Insults to someone's intelligence, skill, or handicap is uglier than sin (pardon the pun). Having the ability to mute someone in the game would be nice. When someone is typing insults and worse; I had to leave a game it was so bad. Sure I was going to lose but I wanted to stay all
The Races are nearly identical. Sorry, having two different buildings after half the research tree is not "diverse" - it's asinine. The "always on the run" Vasari have credits, fixed buildings, colonize worlds and have the exact same economy as the Millenium old Capitalist Empire and the Hive-Mindish Psi-Commune. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. It makes no sense and is dumbed down for no reason but to make it easier for the devs.

The Races are nearly identi
I agree, the thought of planetary bombardment is distasteful to me, even if it is a game. After all there are real people in the real world who think nothing of total genocide of some one of another race or culture. So more options and more ways other than just culture would be a nice addition to the game in future releases.
I would be one of those people. What is honor compared to victory? Honor is the delusion of those who lack resolve.
......if the only way to conquer a planet is by genocide. I know, I know, its only a game, but am I the only one who doesn't like bombarding the entire surface of a planet with nuclear weaponry? The concept of nuking a planet's entire civilian population makes me a little uneasy, even if its just a game. How about a forced evacuation or some kind of surrender if you coordinate a successful siege for a certain length of time? Is there no other option except planetary extinction? If there i
Yea, I don't know about you guys, but I basically dominate the small and middle maps with a large basic frigate force and capital ships. I just feel that my time and money is better spent on building a quick stike team to expand and keep my enemies on the defensive rather then wait to research cruisers. I mean, researching them takes foreverm and if you jsut put your resources into civil research you can produce a massive capital/frigate army that is just devastiating. So many ways to pla
Thanks for the reply and and cluing me in. Kind of different from most RTS games where engineers (construction units) are produced just like other kinds of units. I probably zoned out during the tutorial where this was covered - distracted by the purty visuals. Vaughn
Hehe ohh so easy to do in this game. Wait till you get your empire to a more or less self-sustaining point. You'll probably do like I do and sit there watching battles just becaus
