Personally, I'm hoping a game can take a long time (singleplayer, not interested at all in multiplayer) with a level of depth and complexity as GalCiv2, but easier to play. (RT4X vs TBS, in TBS games empty turns just bug me...) I'm more interested in building and running an empire, and if it's over in 30 minutes, even an hour, there'll be no epic feel to it at all. Short games don't interest me, because when it's done all there is to do is to re-do it, and I don't want to play a bunch of short
oh please ron, everyone thinks "normal" and even "fast" are still too slow, nobody at all (well... apparently save you) thinks "fast, well, only speed freaks care for that these days "
Everyone? Hmmm, I don't, so that must mean not everyone...

In a singleplayer game, currently, you can set which races or AI players to play against and which level of difficulty (Easy, Medium, and Hard). However, there's no real explanation of what these difficulty levels actually represent. Level of economy, agressiveness, build speed, etc... I'm assuming the release version will most likely define these better. But in terms of setting up our singleplayer (and multiplayer I suppose, altho I don't play multi-player) games, what's the level o

I'll admit, I haven't played very many games, and those were small ones just to try and get a feel for it. I'm actually waiting til release to see what the missing 4X features will be comprised of... Anyways, the few that I have played I've noticed that I only had the two intial ship building facilities (for capital ships and light frigate ships)... Is this the way the game plays out always, or do you eventually get the abilitiy to build more ship building facilities at other locations? Sorry
Sins primarily is an offensive based game. Turtling at the start is a good way to lose.
I sincerely hope this isn't the case... It's not that I dislike combat, I don't, I love combat. And I will most certainly take part in it, but it's the RT4X, real time empire management I was hoping to get from this game, with real time tactical combat as a side benefit. (I'm not an online or multi-player kind of person, much rather do my own thing...) However, after playing the bet
The manual is 80 pages long and represents the largest cost of manufacture of all the various components. If you guys had any idea how much it costs for each page of a manual, you'd understand why they're no longer tomes. If Civ IV hadn't sold 4 million units, they wouldn't have been able to afford a 200+ page manual either. <IMG id=ImageResize_Image_15 src="http://images.stardock.com/smiles/Tongue.gif" onload=ImageResizer.createOn(this); align=absMiddle border=0 tries=

I'd like to put my request in for a large and extremely detailed manual... My biggest gripe with Stardock and GalCiv2 is the extremely light manual. What's there is good and well written, just not enough. Any game that requires me to spend hours and hours hunting for information online in order to learn how to play or to even know what's available in the game, is a bad bad idea in my opinion...
Last I heard from sales, the beta's can get the colectors edition for the cost of shipping. Don't know what the cut-off will be, that's what I was told when I asked about the collectors edition for those of us who ordered before they announced the goodies. YMMV. pek
Is there a link or informational webpage outlining this? I'd like to get the boxed CE version even though I purchased using tokens...

I've only been playing this the last couple of nights, and I certainly get nothing more than a slower paced RTS feel to it. It doesn't seem like I'm managing an empire at all, just finding planets and building labs around them, then building ships to deal with military threats. I've not fully explored the full tech trees, and haven't played on any real large maps, so my opinion or perspective may be a bit skewed... So I voted for more 4X functionality. I've got other RTS games I can

I hope it's not too late for the dev team to put something like this in, it sure would be beneficial to alot of people it would seem... I know that I for one would love it... the zoom out and zoom back in to cursor works, but a mouse click and pan would be much much more useful...

In most other games I play, I tend to turn off edge scrolling, I run in a high resolution and moving to an edge has always seemed... icky... to me... But if that's the only way, then I suppose I can adapt... :)

I don't know if perhaps I'm missing something, but is there a way to click drag your viewpoint while in the game? I see the right mouse button rotates, and the middle button zooms (for some reason I really like the Zoom To Cursor setting), but to move up, down, left, and right it appears you can only use the arrow keys? If this is indeed the only method, it feels clumsy since my right hand is on the mouse, and my arrow keys are on the right side of the keyboard. Typically games allow for a cl

Ok, so I purchased the game (pre-ordered it) via TotalGaming.net with the appropriate number of tokens, and in my Stardock Central program it shows up ok, but there's no install or download button under the Action column. I can right click on it and there's a Download Demo menu option... but nothing about installing the pre-ordered beta version... So am I missing something here? Or is it the actual Download Demo I need to click on?

I did start to watch some of the videos, was unable to download them to view at my leisure, and since the connection here at work is kinda crappy, couldn't get into them too easily. Plus, there's all sorts of clicking going on, but since I'm not familiar at all with the UI, couldn't tell what those clicks represented. I'll try to take another gander when I get home tonite...

I'm a bit curious about the actual gameplay, not the advertised gameplay in the FAQ and marketing pages, but the actual pacing of the game? I like the concept of RTS games, but they generally are build as fast as you can so you can overrun your enemy, or they overrun you. (Rush stragey I believe?) Neddless to say, I tend to stink big time at these games because I'm a bit more methodical in my thinking, or at least I try to be. I also like the concept of 4X game, similia
