Off-topic. And if you're going to claim that, you're going to have to come up with numbers to prove it with the Sins engine...something you're not going to be able to do.The fact that the majority of ships were designed with turrets obviously designed to rotate (biggest example being the Garda flak frigate), but that the Devs did not implement it, speaks volumes as to how wrong you probably are.It only speaks volumes on how out of touch with reality the devs are. Or how lazy they are. If
Hasn't Weber concluded his Honor storyline? It seemed to be going in that direction. If so, perhaps the powers that be would be less touchy about things now.
Rest assured the the Honorverse still lives and will continue to be build upon in years to come. Right now there are 3 novels of the series due to be published in 2008\2009 (CoS2 SoS2 HH12) Cheers Warder
I like the idea of more movement with the capital ships. Empire at War had that problem as well, the fighters would engage, but the cap ships would just park and bark at each other. We just need the codes to modify the ship behavior files for combat...
But what will be the point in making the ships move? since damge is global and is not affected by the angle of fire (as far as I know, please correct me if i'm wrong) there is absolutely no incentive to make the ships mov
I much rather have an Honorvese style mod than a "The Star at war" one, since assaulting defended wormhols can be a bit borring..... (after the first few times IMHO) But, if we do make some kind of a mod based on "real" mechanics (and by we i mean you :HOT:) i can see several problems: 1.Making the star Gravity well big enought to encompas the enire star system while haveing a bunch of intractable objects in it, as i under stand this can't be done atm since we can't put to in
Look at a WWII Battleship and tell me they were actually worthwhile outside of their majestic look, proud naval background, and intimidation and morale factor. It's not all about what is most efficient. Efficiency and utility are great for science, but this isn't science. This is war. War carries with it a few extra variables. And yes yes I know
Several points: 1. Battleships of all variants (battlecruisers, dreadnought, fast battleships etc etc etc) have been the optim
I could be mistaken on this, but considering that a modification for a game would not be used for commercial purposes, you could likely create a mod safely using the 'Fair Usage' clause as described by copyright law.Else all the mods out there based on Star Trek, Star Wars, Babylon 5, Battlestar Galactica, Turtledove's World War/Colonization series, etc... would be potential lawsuits waiting to happen.Just don't sell it.
Mate Kodus on the art in SITS, great stuff. :D
one of the possible conflicts I see is that via research there already is some sort of possibility for customisation in that you research some techs earlier than others and leaving some out altogether. over the long term of course most players will have researched most techs which makes them equal again This is a true statement, but other than a fairly select few techs (mainly ship hulls/weapon upgrades, ma
I would like to be able to not just place a bounty on someone but also to task the pirates, like 2000 credits to attack a particular system or to have them target just cap ships. This would give them more of a mercenary flavor. Nah I disagree, because than it will be merc-wars ftw, but I do agree that pirats AI should be tweaked to go more after civilian ships than hard military targets, they are pirats not
kudos on the idea mate. Cheers
now, wait a second, I got an email as well, I reordered as well, but I got no email, except for the confirmation mail. what's going on here? has the conspiracy already started? Check your e-mail again, it will allso contain your serial number at the bottom. Cheer Warder
Once your pre-order has been successfully charged, you'll get an email with your serial number. You'll use that to download the beta through Stardock Central. Just make sure you have "Show pre-release versions" checked. thanks for the quick replay Yarle
The post-beta-2 preorders are being processed now. It usually takes some time to get through them all, though. Is there a way to d\l it before we get the e-mail via SDC?
I wonder if anyone knows how long it will take those of us who pre-ordered at the close of beta 2 to get the confirmation email. A day, two days, next Monday etc. I sure hope it will be soon..... can't download it till they send it <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Crying.gif" border=0 align="absmid
I know for certain that time is one full dimension on its own, einstein's equations apply if it wasnt. WOW Great! i'll write the letter to Stockholm myself for your noble prize . There are two great "everyday" powers that we don't understand time and gravity... If only we could harnnes Gr
no more than we function in 4-D. we don't, in case you don't know. actually we are constantly moving forward in time how do you know we are not functioning in a 4th space dimension. would a 2-d Creator know if it was a 3-d space or a 1-d in a 2-d space. i believe that the 4th diminsion is going to turn out to be size not time.
