What, you just want a number? OK, I'd say less, from 10 to 20k. Perhaps much more for Vasari with colony pods, though.

If it's got Vasari colony pods, quite a lot (but perhaps in cramped conditions- say that the Spartan-like Vasari don't seem to mind). If without colony pods, the Vasari should have the least number of people- in fact, it wouldn't be bad if you could have only a few dozen personnel, all wired up and connected to the various starbase systems, mostly organising and giving orders, with automation and nanobots doing most of the work. TEC should have quite a lot of personnel, with many invo

You know, it would be great if we had a strategic choice between nuking a planet and occupying it. Nuking would be much easier and faster, but result in a planet with zero infrastructure anf pop, and extremely low growth rates- mking it a burden to colonize and maintain. Strategic conquest, on the other hand would take more time and resources, but result in a planet with only diminished health and population (or even a level of infrastructure intact). It would make us choose between a "scortc

First of all, you are confusing astronomy and astrology. Astronomy is the study of planets, moons, stars, and other celestial phenomenons. Um... I don't think you can make such a comparison. Repair platforms can repair just about anything. Perhaps they will be able to focus in repairing your experienced capship to keep it standing long enough for help to arrive, or help your not-fully-upgraded starbase hold off an enemy fleet by itself as your fleet is engaged elsewhere. How many assailants is that worth? IMO, you should build at least two in any defended planet. In choke points and heavy defenses, three or even

If it's just capitals, then not even 10 sovas will be enough. You simply NEED strikecraft. Even the upgraded flak burst of 5 kols won't be enough against carrier spam (or simply a carrier-heavy fleet), especially if it's you that's attacking. And the cost of rebuilding a lost capital ship, plus all the XP required, is just too much compared to the enemy just replenishing their SC. You won't stand a chance. Now, you could have a fleet where the basic attack force is capship-only, if yo

Dominated ships have the tendency to follow the enemy's retreating fleet for some reason, even though they are not a part of it. After making it yours, give it a "stop" order- Works most of the time. That's not the only wierd behavior of dominated ships: They quite often form a single-ship fleet, the minute they are captured. Never figured out how that happens.

Yeah, Space Empires 5 now seems pretty awesome, but only with the latest patch AND the great mod made by a fan (Balance mod, I think.) I haven't tried it yet, but most say it brings back the feeling of immense freedom of options that was the best part of SE4, plus a decent AI and only a few minor bugs. I'll try it when I have the time. Unfortunately, MOO3 never did it for me, even with the mods. The game just doesn't feel fun to play. :(

Everything after the second stage is pure garbage, so it doesn't really matter. Seriously, the Civilisation and Space stages are a joke. I've seen online flash games with more complexity and fun in their gameplay.

Yup, another MAJOR disappointment. All those promises, and what we get is a kindergarden sandbox. And they say that the potential for a great game is STILL in there, hardcoded, but EA wanted to tone it down and make it more 'light'. I seriously doubt whether anyone bothers with Spore anymore, other than to design weird and silly creatures and vehicles. At least that part works well as a stress reliever from work- somewhat like the ship designer of GC2, but without a goo

[quote who="nixiepixel" reply="3" id="2084274"]Yeah.. Rome Total War is so much better. (especially modded) As far as my memorable game let down, that's easy. THE DEATH OF ADVENTURE GAMES. Where's the Grim Fandangos, Syberia's and Longest Journies of the world? Oh how I miss them. I just found out that Mirrors Edge won "Adventure game of the Year" and I'm thinking 'WTF, they've butchered the adventure genre i

I don't know if this is a bug or not, but... I had an allied AI surrender to the enemy, as they were being ripped apart while I was occupied in an all-out confrontation with the most powerful enemy AI. After my victory, I started to regain the planets occupied by the enemy, including those my surrendered ally had. I finally recolonized a planet in which most of the defenses of my ally AI remained intact... And saw that the number of logistics/tactical slots was down to

What I'm not that satisfied with is the Advent sb. Not in regard to texture- I think it has the best texture from the three- but about its overall shape: It looks somewhat unfinished, like it's missing something. Maybe with more radical visible upgrades...

On another note: after beta 3, I think that bombers have actually become more useful. For carrier spamming to work against a moderate fleet with flak support, you now need to succeed fast in crippling his capitals and structures. With the build rate decrease, you won't get a second chance. In fact, I experimented with an all-bomber SC force against the AI (with a good amount of flak support). It actually did better than an all-fighter one: The bombers were essentially b

Reply to minidump in Beta Feedback

My minidumps have nothing to do with any actions, they just happen a few minutes after reloading an autosave. It doesn't seem to happen with clean saves, but maybe I was lucky.

I don't get it- I think this is a pointless thread. So what if an experienced player can beat a carrier spammer? That is not the issue. The issue is that, unless dealing with way more experienced players, an INexperienced player can simply own all just by spamming carriers. saying "grow a pair and learn how to play" is not an answer, because this is not a "who wins at the internets" contest, it's a discussion on the playability and replayability of the game. If one has to become an expert to

What's up with all the 'minidump' crashes? I completely uninstalled and reinstalled both vanilla and entrenchment, and I had no custom maps made or downloaded. Why can't I get to play a single scenario without getting the minidump crash at some point?
