Hi there, I just started my first game of BETA 3. I've been playing some time on it and I want to post my technical feedback here, as a journal in which I'll add post as I discover things/bugs. My present game is Single player... I know multiplayer should be the thing to try, but haven't had the chance to compete for now. There is my list: 1- I receive threat messages from other civs, even when they are my allies, like "show yourself and meet me face to face !" <br

yaaaaaaaaa but damn... can't try it. I must finish my preparation of my hockey pool (draft day = saturday) Go destroy each other people!!
well, actually you could have a list of pre-defined fleet names that you choose from in the Option menu (Fleet #1: Home Guard, Fleet #2: Imperial Dominator, bla...). So when assigning Ctrl-1 to a fleet, it takes that pre-determined name (and voice).
your computer will explode!
@Yarlen: I don't know if you ever played SW Rebellion, but their system is quite good I think (well I like it). You can choose between those speeds (if I remember correctly): 1- Pause: Nothing moves. You can assign move destinations, order building and research, but nothing starts; 2- Normal: Normal pace; 3- Haste: Everything goes faster; 4- Realllllly fast: not interesting; It is good for single player and for multiplayer. In multiplayer, the game checks t
Just about everything will be in Beta 4 (all the major gameplay elements at least). Talk about teasing.
There's not half a year left in development. In fact, there's only about 60-days of time left to finish adding the planned features, which isn't a lot. Can we have a sneak preview at what's left to be developped for those 60 days?
For countering stealth there should be some kind of module you would have to build like the repair station that would take up a tactical slot and detect stealthed ships around a certain area. I thought about it and I want to add to my idea. I thought of two techs (stealth and counter-stealth) of the same high level (maybe counter-stealth one level higher). When researched, counter-stealth would be passive for all your planets/capital ships with an area
I probably got that half-wrong, but you get the idea. You are not wrong. I'm a computer engineer myself and I write a lot of code in some huge applications (not games). You are right, when you are this close to a release date and are still in the BETA testing, the last thing you want to do is try adding some new big features unplanned. The main reason is not only that it takes time to develop (textures, model, behavior, etc...), but it takes a lot of ti
Expansions...expansions. Even if it won't be in the initial release, I really LOVE your answer Yarlen
Hi, I recently bought the game and I'm still playing my first BETA 2 game (having a baby and a full time job is quite time consuming!) I just want to say that this game is fantastic. I like long strategic games, like SW Rebellion and Gal Civ 2. I was a little concerned that Sins would look like SW Empire at war more than the kind of game I love (SW EaW is extremly fast, almost like an arcade game and I was extremly disappointed). But no. Even in BETA 2, the game pace is perfect
It got broken on our end when some work was being done at the server level. I fixed it yesterday afternoon. No problem at all. I currently really enjoy BETA 2
Well, turns out that US2 worked. Game is running. Actually, don't know if the US2 server was the solution or if my ISP DNS tables were updated at that time. Thanks Yarlen.
@Yarlen: yeah, I wouldn't be surprised about the DNS tables issue. At my job, we had a problem regarding those tables and it took some days to update (I have the same ISP). If that's the case, what are my options? Call them? I'll try US2 at lunch (I'm using US1 right now) Thanks.
sin.sdc sounds like the data file I downloaded -- I believe its an archive file that decompresses. Yep, I think so too... but I'm d/l it in loop. When it reaches 100% (~380Mb), it restart at 0% and the sin.sdc file returns to 0kb, like if it was overwriten. I contacted support about this.
Kryo: Hum... I'm trying to d/l Beta 2 from SDC (according to what you told me in another post). It's the third time sin.sdc gets downloaded... Any idea? Please, I'm about to reach my d/l limit for the month!
If you buy via TGN tokens, you get access immediately (loophole, tokens are deducted immediately so you get it immediately). If you preorder otherwise the 'normal' way, you'll get access, just not until the next phase begins (beta 3, later this month). Thanks for the info Kryo (again). I just bought my TGN account and I'm downloading BETA 2 right now yaaa
hum... so I must get a TotalGaming account at 70$ and then spend 5 tokens on Sins. And if I decide to buy the game directly from: https://www.stardock.com/products/ at 44$, I won't be able to download the Beta? I do already have SD Central (I already bought GalCiv2 + DA).
I'm interested in the question about the right to download the game if I just bought it and if I haven't downloaded Beta 1 and 2? Will I be able?? How do I have to buy it to be able to download the Beta 3? Thanks
STOP TEASING AND START BLOWING!!! hmmm... that sounds REALLY wrong... haha dthif1980, Beta 3 will blow you away! I can't wait! Really looking forward to try and see (thanks to Multianna's videos). I read that it is supposed to come out mid-september. Any info on that??
ah ok. Well, that's a good thing
Dead asteroids -- you can put defenses around them, but thats it. No logistics, no population. Ok. And I suppose that there is a setting at the game creation where you can decide the amount of Dead asteroids in the map? If not, would be nice. I personally would play with some, to make some remote, hidden bases. But I presume that "No logistics" means no interesting structures (like research station, shipyard, etc...) Am I wrong?
By the way, GameDevs, the planetary bombardement is AWESOME (and of course all the graphics in general)
4- Just an idea which is probably impossible, but I'm just saying it. Is there any uncolonizable worlds? Would be nice to have some of them around a system where you could hide a base or infrastructures in their gravity well. Could make the path to those world hidden by some sort... If you ever read Star Wars books, it is always intriguing to hear about an hidden pirate base in sector X amoug the asteroids... hehe <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Smile.gif" border=0 align="ab
a question for ya are you watching them on gametrailers or the downloadable onces? I have downloaded the files (part 1 to 4 so far) from your forum post.
