Religion began when man gain knowledge and learn stuff by exploration. They fear things that they don't understand by creating religion and state that it the act of god. Those who prefer to seek more answer via experiments instead of submitting to this particular reasoning that everything is created by god, believe more in science. Give it 3 thousand years, religion will disappear when man make use of science to turn themselves into gods. I got two views of life.

Strange flickering, Geforce 8800GTX in Bug Reports GalCiv2 Forums

I'm using the forceware 158.18 for Vista, Geforce 8800 GTX. Well, for all the drivers on 8800 GTX that I tried, I noticed that there's a flickering issue with Galactic Civilizations 2: Dread Lord. It's noticeable on the trade routes and also during planetary invasions where the wheels of all the vechicles seems to be flickering and bouncing about. Previously on my 6600, no such thing happened. I was using a pentium 4 then.. now Core 2 Duo. If I play long enough, the computer will crash

Erm, your using geforce 8800GTs, well, there are lots and lots of issue with the display driver for the geforce 8800 series especially when you want to use directX 9C. I'm facing the exact same problem and my computer is crippled when it's comes to playing games. Your quite lucky as it didn't freeze up and mine did.

Hmmm..the reason why the rest don't come out is because... the memory has overflowed I think. Window Xp can only support up to 4gb of ram or was it the motherboard that has such a limit...so it tends to show less than what is on.... oh well, might be talking nonsense here.

hmm.. seen that.. well..instead of lesser tiles like what you guys had, i have a class 13 planets.. it instead gave me 16 tiles. I researched and got my nation into a netural civilization.. free upgraded tiles.. well, planet becomes class 18, number of tiles + another 4... hmmm... of course, lesser tiles do happen...

Hmm.. how come I didn't feel the penalty at all? I had one game where my revenue were at 20k per week, and i have hit a near surplus of 800k in my bank.
