Galactic Civ II Dread Lords Won't start in Games Support Stardock Forums

I did raise this issue a while back (Only about 3 to 4 weeks), But couldn't seem to get any help ! I really would like to play this game first as I have ToA & DA but they work fine ! I have a strange problem. Dread lords works okay up to the little thing that says "Play the Game, Manual, Update etc." but when I click on play the game I just get a black box in the top left (which is 1024x768 in size) and the game freezes there. I have no debug.err file as I guess I havn't got the game started enough for it to generate one. I have updated my video card drivers (GeForce 8800GTX) and updated directx to the november release. Well I have contacted the developers at http://www.amaranthia.com/ and their point was that there is a virus called "Game.exe" and they say that it is the file game.exe that is causing the false positive. Problem is there is no "Game.exe" it is actually aveyond.exe that contains the virus. If you download the game from their site you will find no-virus. Problem is if you bought the game through stardock / impulse your key dosn't work with the one

I have found that the virus is real and does all the things that that backdoor.sdbot supposedly does. Check your registry and check out the knowlledge base regarding that virus, I have found that the virus appears to be the real McCoy !!!!!!

Oh yes I would just like to add that i have deleted all traces of the download many times and re-downloaded and re-installed and the same virus crops up during installation / trying to run it ! I have 350 games all legitimate no copies and I have never had a virus from any of them, so I doubt it is a fake reading, if so then NOD32 has the same "fake" result. Cheers

Hi I have noticed that Aveyond (Particularly the Aveyond.exe file) has a Virus in it (Backdoor.sdbot), I use nortons internet security 2008. Also somebody using NOD32 antivirus has the same issue. I guess not that many people have bought aveyond or else i am sure more cases would crop up. The real issue is that I would like to contact the makers/programmers of Aveyond (As previously suggested to me by Impulse staff) but I don't know how to conatct them. I use Nortons Internet Security 2008, and my Aveyond.exe file contains the backdoor.sdbot virus. Does anyone know what the "sd" in "sdbot" stands for.....it's not Stardock is it ? I turned the antivirus off and installed it, yes it installed fine now, but the virus comes back when i actually run the game ! I once did, but now am the proud owner of over 300 original games !!! I try to be patient waiting for the price to fall ... sometimes not that easy, but on the other hand recently i bought 120 games that are only about 1 to 1.5 years old all for $1000 AUD delivered to my door ($8 AUD per game !). Also didn't have to worry about patching them as most of them are re-releases !!!

Hi All, Just to let you know that recently I did a post cause Aveyond wouldn't install. Every time it installs the file AVEYOND.EXE implements Backdoor.SDBOT (Might have the name slightly wrong can remember it 100% right now, will go find out after this post) It is my nortons internet security 2008 that picks it up. Hope the makers can rectify this ! I would like to play the game !
