Yu should be able to pause in multi player as long as a majority agree to the pause. If a player takes too long to come back someone should be able to initiate a vote to resume without him. I cant remember wich ones but I have played more than one RTS game with this feature and it is very usefull. There should also be a feature to save the game in multi player mode and meet up to resume at a set time. Just have the game room reserved untill a set time and when the players meet up and

Okay I have seen on a number of threads the complaint that after you have researched your teck tree and built your fleet there is nothing to do with your money but place bounty. I have a few sugestions. Add, in the top teir of the reasearch tree, an intelligence agency. You could then spend your money and resources spying and formenting probems for your enemies (or allies). You would also have to spend money on counter intel. It could work a bit like the culture system. Line
I would like to know also. It makes it easyer to test a beta when you have cheet codes so you can quickly get to the point you are trying to test. Sometimes you have to play for 6 hours to get to the test you want to make. In my opinion cheets ruin a games replayability but for the purposes of testing they are an invaluable aid.
I havent noticed any slow down when it happens but it does seem to happen in the late game. It shoudnt be comp lag. I have a fast machine. Two Gigs of RAM, Dual Raptors in RAID 0, Two 7800GTXs in SLI, AMD 4400+ overclocked to 5400+ speed. Whatever is causing it, it still needs to be fixed imop. The fact it is happening to multiple people should be cause for concern to the dev.
I would first like to point out how impressed I am with the dev team on a generaly smooth running game with very few bugs when it is only in Beta 2. I am also very impressed with how the dev listen to the testers on general gameplay issues and the quick responces to problems testers may have. This is a compilation of my impressions so far and may touch on things I have mentioned in other posts. UI: The UI is very user friendly and intuitive but I would like to see
It seems that sometimes my ships refuse to attack. I cant reproduce it even after hours of trying but it happens pretty often, at least 6 or 7 times a game. It seems to happen more in the late game. Has anyone been able to reproduce this bug? When I click to attack my ships treat it like a movement order. It only lasts about a min or less then things start working normaly again but it has caused some harry moments during a few battles. I am running version .18
Okay I did some research because my memory might be faulty and here is what I found. Only people with 17" or bigger monitors need to be worried about running too low a resolution but everyone with an LCD needs to be careful about running too high a res. The refresh rate can also cause this problem. I have a few links here. http://www.pcuser.com.au/pcuser/hs2.nsf/lookup+1/598CF4A694783B1BCA2570D800800E31 http://www.mcse.ms/message2069807.html The probem is not my sett
You have to be a certain distance and at a certain angle as well as have a fase line pointing behind you. Its tricky. I just tried to reproduce it again and it took my 20 min to get it right and I knew what to try for. It happens often enough that next time I will get a screen of it.
I like what you did with the culture system. Before it was a lost cause trying to get a foothold in a new star system that was fully developed. Now we at least have a fighting chance as long as we have the strength to kill off one of the AIs in the new star system. I still think culture should fade a LOT faster once the broadcast centers are destroyed, at least two or three times faster, Especialy if you are cranking out a lot of your own culture.
I found a reprduceble bug that sends ships to another star system when you are trying to move them within a gravity well. If you scroll out from your ships a bit, till they are not dirrectly visible but marked by symbols and lower your viewing angle a bit you can reproduce it easily. You have to be lined up with a fase lane pointing behind you. It takes a little TLC to get it right but once you do it is easy to reproduce. I almost lost a planet because of this. I had two battles going
If they are in for the cinematic feel they should implement som formations. And im not talking about the group phasejump feature. But real formations with a few options so you can say frigates up front capital ships behind. Just so it looks structured. They should be able to move in this formations also at the speed of the slowest moving ship. I love this sugestion. You should be able to toggle it on and off for locked in formation or general melee. T
I have found this combo unbeatable no matter what fleet they send of any configuration as long as I am there to controll it. On Asteroids: 5 Hangars and 5 Turrets, 7 Bombers and 3 Fighters. Have your fighters, turrets and bombers on seperate keys. Focus fire the bombers and turrets and use the fighter to take out their bmbers and fighters. If you use them all to focus fire it is less effective. On Planets same mix of fighters and bombers but a lot more turrents. I dont even
Ohh I wasnt offended. I was mostly refering to the comment about turning it off and on not damaging the monitor. I wasnt worried about that harming it. Mostly my reply was aimed at people who dont have built in protectiong and dont know that they are harming their monitor. You can look your monitors native resolution up online and if you want your monitor to have a long happy life I suggest running your computer and games at that resolution or higher, never lower. This will also improve your f
Star Treck generaly goes with the laws of phisics. Riiiight. Where it thinks it would be "cooler" it makes it's own, just like every other series that wants to have fans. And ships (in reality) do not need to move to turn. Any engine whose line of thrust doesn't pass th
I would be willing to bet that this was a topic that was hotly debated on the dev team at some point. Should they go with a Star Wars feel or a Star Treck feel? Star Treck generaly goes with the laws of phisics. Star Wars has fighters in space swooping in to attack and banking for turns in space. I think they thought the star wars feel would give the game more action and entertainment value but I think the anoyance value overbalances it hahaha.
Thanks for the info. I dont mind the long save times so much during beta but it realy is something that should be addressed before final release of the game.
Okay maby I didnt make it cear enough. When I decided to switch over to LCD a few years ago I did intensive research on them so I could buy the best one and know everything about them I could. It has been a while but I distinctly remember reading than running an LCD monitor below its native resolution can damage it. You can do it but it is very bad for it. There is a processor in every LCD monitor as well as ram and its all running on its own little BIOS. My monitor is a pretty high end model a
Saveing the game takes entirely too long for some reason. I have a pretty fast computer so that cant be the issue. I sometimes have to wait a full min for it to save. This feature of the game needs much better optomization. Playing with auto save turned off is like playing russian rulett in a game that sometimes takes 6 hours to finish. If it saves every five min that means I spend one sixth of my time sitting there stareing at the screen doing nothing. It would make it less anoying if there wa
No the intros to games generaly arent movie files even though the developers will make a movie file of them to post online during betas to wet peoples apetites for the game. I have had this same problem happen with a lot of games but once I get in the game and set the res higher it fixes it. This game doesnt have the intro linked to the in game res yet though so its a problem.
On the opening credits and movie the default resolution needs to be set higher. Most people have converted to LCD monitors by now and most LCD monitors have native resolutions much higher than 800 by 600. I found in the options to set the game res higher but this had no effect of the opening credits. Every time I start the game I get a big box on the bottom of my screen saying input signal out of range and about one time in 4 it will actualy crash my monitor. I then have to turn off my monitor
I had the attack bug a few times also. I found that if I keep the ships selected and zoom out till the planet pips come up then zoom back in I can attack again. It seems to hapen, more often but not always, when you try to attack something that is realy close to your ships. It lessons the likelyhood also if you zoom in closly before right clicking the target. This is a minor bug in my opinion. I have seen finished games with much worse than this with no work arounds and they never eve
The scroll speed is adjusted with the zoom. I never had a problem. I would just rl the wheel a bit and then move the screen. The zoom seems more than fast enough too. one wheel revolotion and you areb all the way out looking at the entire star system. Are you useing the mouse wheel to zoom???
I guess after reading the other reports I shoud have included more information. When I let it run for 11 hours I had 14 planets ( an entire star system ) fully fortified and over 300 ships. Everything on every planet was maxed out with 5 fighter bays and max turrets as well as fully developed logistics and planetary improvements. On every asteroid and planet that would support it I had 2 broadcast centers and sometimes 4 so the culture should have bled through to the next star system but it did
I tested for memry leaks buy taking over the first of three star systems and then letting the game run for about 11 hours. I started playing again after 11 hours and it continued to run fine. I researched every item to max and everything worked great. I didnt run into a single glitch or error wich is suprizing on a beta. I had all the options turned all the way up and ran it at the highest resolution in a medium galaxy. It took me 3 hours just to get a foothold in the second star syst
Not in yet, still downloading but thanks for the promt reply. Is there a manual I can lok through while I am downloading?
