Hmmm I wonder if there is a way to block a fase lane until a specific objective is finished. This realy should be a seperate thread since it is off topic but the multiple panets in a gravity well made me think of a cool campain mod for single player or co op.

Ok I just got done going all through the Game Info looking for the crystal and metal asteroids with no luck. I next went into the mesh and found them. There are 6 of them 2 of wich are, Metal Depleeted, and Crystal Depleeted. I would use these ones. I dont see why we couldnt mess around with making copies of the planet meshes and renaming them so they are mapped to the resource asteroids then deleeting the originals. Of course make a copy of the unaltered mesh and tuck it away somelace safe fir
I just had an idea that might work. Maby we could mod the resource asteroids around the planets to have population and such. Then you can add as many as we want to a gravity well. We could replace most or all of the asteroids info file with a planets info. Has anyone tried this? We would also have to mod it so all planets gave a steady trickle of Crystal and Metal, or simply get rid of the crystal and metal costs on everything and adjust the money cost acordingly. If this is possible
Yeah They made moding realy easy for this game. Its hard to mess anything up because everything is so self explanatory with a minimum of jiberish. By the way, Thanks Therax that was exactly the info I needed.
You can do the first one simly by expanding a stars gravity well to huge proportions. There would still be fase lanes but you wouldnt be able to use them anymore and battles could take place anywhere. You can also expand the planet and asteroid gravity wells and make the build zones bigger or smaller too.
I'm not exactly understanding your question... Are you saying how do they set the speed and turning rate of the vessels? Because that's just guess and check, seeing if it looks real or not. I get the feeling from your responce that you havent moded ships yet. When you open a ship file to mod it it looks like this. TXT entityType "CapitalShip" ability:0 "AbilityGaussBlast" ability:1 "AbilityFlakBurst" ability:2 "AbilityAdaptiveS
What exactly does mass control in the ship files? I know what mass is in reality but I dont want to mess with it till I know how the game treats it. I get the impression the game might treat it like volume or size because ship speed, acceleration, and strafe are all seperate peramiters you can hard set without regard to mass (real mass).
Hey all this is my first mod so there will be nothing realy major. I wanted to quicken the pace of the game and eliminate the end game since it is so tedious with the AI the way it is so far. I started off by tweeking the homeworld. They have 1000 pop at 0 level and 3600 pop at level 3. Money is not an issue heh. The home worlds can support up to 1000 ships after leveling to max and have 22 logistics slots. I gave all the home worlds 2 crystal and 2 metal mines with 9k in e
FIXED IT!!!!!! hahaha The numbskulls at Nvidia still havent gotten back to me after the second info request but through poking around I found an option that is turned on by default in the Nvidia Control Panel that was causing my monitor not to be able to display anything under 1028x whatever resolution. There is a box at the bottom of the Display Mode Timing section that says "Enable double scan for lower resolution modes" that is the root of all evil as far as I am concerned. I havent been abl
Yeah, with pirates turned off, wich is how I play now the late game gets very tedious and boring since the AI at this point cant make anything to stand up to me or attack me. I ended up moding the late game out comleetly lol. Till they improve the AI or fix pirates anyway. I made home worlds stat with 1000 popuation cap and can be upgraded to 3600 pop, home system starts with 2 crysta and 2 metal mines with 9k in each, and home system starts with 20 logistics slots and can be upgraded to 40. <b
Its realy easy to mod planet behavior. Just open the planet type you want to mod with notepad and scroll down till you see what you want to change. I have mine set up for 5 constructors right off the bat on all planets as well as 2 crystal and 2 metal mines in each system with 9000 ore in them hehehe. Home planets start with 1000 population and can be upgraded to 3500 pop with 1000 ship slots. I wanted to make a total destruction quick game and its much faster paced than the regular game. It ta
Its best to keep your Flack Frigs on a seperate hot key. If you have everything under one key the flacks will be useless. You want them going after bombers and fighters so let them auto target while you use everything else on condenced fire.
Crap! LOL that might be why its not recognizing my monitor as an LCD. I just sent my reply with aditional info to the tech support of Nvidia before comming here to check I guess I will double reply to them with this info. Thanks Kryo
DVI off the Video card with a VGA adaptor that came with the card pluged into it for my monitor.
No its not in there. Thanks though
Ahh ok well I dont use any web hosting service. Other forums you can just load your image to the forum. There are some I have used that all you have to do is right click the picture select copy, right click your post before you post it and click paste and your done once you hit post reply.
Maby this will work.
Hmm that didnt work. How do you post screen shots on this forum?
Yeah the game gets pretty boreing at this point. The AI just runs every time as you can see and never makes a fleet to counter me. I just stomp from system to system.
I would go with one of each of the capital ships, an extra KOL and Sova. I then back these up with 4 flack frigates, 2 robotics cruisers, 2 command cruisers, and fill the rest out with carriers. After they level up a bit those sovas will be carryeing 4 bombers each. I usualy save up cash and level them all up to level 5 before I even send them out to fight. When I get more ship slots my Ideal fleet is 2 sovas, 2 KOLs, one each of the others. Then 10 flack frigs, 10 heavy cruisers, 5
Try Reforce, and set all the resolutions to 60Hz to be safe. Reforce has always worked for me in the past. If you have an ATI card, the control panel has a refresh rate force option. I would recommend using Reforce and setting the resolutions to a setting you feel is safe, which is usually around the 60Hz mark. EDIT: That message can suggest a refresh rate being used outside what is supported by your monitor. It could be trying to u
Yeah I looked up the same thing on the IBM site and saw the res and refresh chart. I think that is just a generic chart they use in all the different monitor info and troubleshooting stuff. It mre of a general guid you can use to determin what refresh rate to use with what resolution setting. The resolution problem I am having should only affect you if you have a 19" or bigger LCD. It doesnt stress the processor unless you set it too high or too low from the native resolution. Someone
Thanks Kryo, I got it and set all the perameters but SINs as well as a demo I got off of Stardock Central is still forcing my machine into 800x600. I think that program only actualy locks the refresh rate and not the reslution. I removed all modes below 1024x768 but they still show up in the settings. It does only show the refresh rates I edited it to show so that part is working. Am I doing something wrong? I am thinking about deleeting all the drivers for my monitor and trying this
That strikes me as a bit odd--aside from excessively low/high refresh rates, an LCD shouldn't care what the resolution is. You could probably solve your particular issue just by using a utlity to lock the refresh rate to the same as your desktop. I have looked all over for a utility to lock the resolution and refresh rate to the same as my desktop with no luck. Do you know of one in paticular I can try to find?
I turned up more than those forum postings but the others were all manufacturer made PDFs that were like 200 pages long lol. The processor in LCDs is what can be damaged and the damage is caused by overheating. The processors in LCDs all use passive cooling that is not very efficient. Higher end LCD models can run resolutions that are higher and lower than what is native but everything has to be translated by the processor. It takes more processing to translate a lower than spec res than a high
