I had Impulse open for the first time in a while this weekend, and Sins had a fresh update, I noticed, which inspired me to start playing it again. I bought the retail box of the game when it was still shiny and new, and never played it extensively, but I am having fun with it this go round. I'm wondering if the expansions are of the nature of a Paradox type expansion...must have no matter what point/proficiency level you are with the game, or like a CnC type expa

Same problem here, also a 7950GT on Vista 32bit. I had older drivers than anyone has yet listed here (163.xx) and Crysis and WoW worked fine on my PC. Saw similar hang to OP, except mine the galaxy would stay visible but the whole UI would ghost out or disappear. Same windows error message. I haven't seen a re-occurrence sine updating to 169.25 but on the other hand, I haven't played more than 20 minutes at a session since I did either.
