It seems to me that being a "super power" requires a few things. First and foremost, is having a large population, since the larger your population, the larger your economic capacity, and the larger your overall raw military capacity. Second is having sufficient natural resources to support your people's, and country's needs (i.e. economy, military, etc...) "Resources" includes food, energy/fuel, and raw materials (like metals, wood, textiles, etc...) Third is to hav

My my, you really ARE extremely ignorant about evolution, aren't you? Evolutionists have never stated that humans evolved from monkeys, apes, chimpanzees, or any other kind of modern primate. What they assert is that based on the evidence available, humans and other primates share a common ancestor, neither monkey, nor human, nor chimpanzee, but similar them, if somewhat simpler than them. [quote]And if we evolved from monkeys, then why are there still monkeys around.[

Hey, evolution is a much more logical theory, with more empirical evidence supporting it, than the theory that someone's imaginary friend snapped their fingers one day (or once every day for six days) and everything just magically appeared. Oh, and the whole point behind science and the results of scientific research, is that it provides empirical evidence generated by repeatable observation and/or experimentation. Anything that does not hold up to serious scrutiny -- especially someth

The theory of evolution is just the most logical conclusion available based observation and evaluation of the existing evidence that is available. There is a wealth of evidence to support it as the most logical and most plausible explanation for how things came to be. The only "evidence" that supports any sort of "intelligent design" or creationist theory is people's illogical belief in an imaginary, supposedly omniscient and omnipotent entity, as well as texts written thousands of yea

Lol From what I've seen, atheists usually just respond to other people, rather than acutally going out to seek out other people and actively attempt to change their beliefs. There's a difference between responding to someone, and actively going out and proselytising. Oh, the definition of "religion" that I work from, is this one, or close to it: [I]re·li·gion /rɪˈlɪdʒən/ –noun 1. a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the u

No, actually it probably started out as something similar to a kite or a simple aeroplane, and kept getting redesigned and rebuilt as technology improved, until eventually it "evolved" into the modern space shuttle. Since obviously a space shuttle can't build itself, people had to do it. However, your analogy is not compatible with the current argument, since (as someone else pointed out) you're talking about inanimate objects, not living organisms. Of course, I supp

Uhm, no, this is NOT America. I live on the other side of the planet. There is the freedom to speak, but you have to accept that if you say something irrational, illogical, and annoying, you're going to get rebuked for it. Hm, and no other religions are silenced, eh? Heh, why don't you go find some Moselms in your country, and tell them that, and see how they react? Oh yeah, and just for the record, from an external viewpoint, it really looks to me like t

Actually, Ironhandx, from what I can recall, Buddhism, Hinduism, Sikhism, Taoism, Shintoism, and Confucianism don't have bibles, or if they do they're very very different from the ones in Judaism, Islam, and Christianity. And Hinduism is a fairly major religion, considering there's like a billion people who practice it. Let's also not forget Buddhism, which has a pretty significant number of followers as well. :D As for the whole brainwashing a populace into attacking another

Intelligent design is a joke, unfortunately it's like the one about the chicken crossing the road -- old, tired, and no longer funny. Religion would be a joke too, if it weren't for the fact that fundamentalists often seem more than willing to kill others who do not adhere to their (the fundamentalists) erroneous beliefs. All I can say at this point is thank goodness for the idea of the separation of church and state in most modern democracies, and lets just hope that the funda
