LEts look at some of the broken mechanics of GalCiv iv. I will be discussing buildings some. If the future version of Galciv applies my suggestion of not having buildings then this will, of course, need some modification as well. The primary flaw I have seen is a very large disconnect in cost/benefit of so, so many items in GalCiv. For example - the Industrial goods/supply ship is a known imbalance. There are plenty of others: Missions:<br

I am a veteran of 4x games going back to MOO (and yes, even the disasterous MOO3). The evolution has been interesting. There were many interesting mechanics introduced by MOO which have been unfortunately phased out. I'd love to see these reintroduced. 1) The multi-disciplined tech tree. I always *loved* that in MOO it was possible to split research into multiple fields. If one wanted they could pour it all into one field, or they could spread

I am not a coder nor an ai expert, but it seems to me that every turn the ai should assess: What are the risks and what are the opportunities? The ai is not only bad at fleet management but also diplomacy and planet management. Hell - CHAT GBT can determine where to place buildings on a map far better than the current ai does. Diplomacy - the ai grossly over-values planets and colonies (without regard to proximity) and undervalues stellar structures and starbases.

I was minding my own business when suddenly my opponents neighboring planets jumped from 15 influence to 500 influence. I looked and they had three solar nexus with influence com online. (which, btw - is a stupid to have such a huge and sudden bump) So I purchased the nexus from them in diplomacy. Next turn I looked forward to seeing my influence surge ridiculously. But alas - it did not. Nor did their influence drop. WTF?

I am playing a large map. For no explicable reason the Arceans declared war - even though they are far across the galaxy and nowhere near my territory. Every few turns they demand a surrender and drive my stats down. FIne. I build out and start creating a path to them. Through several star lanes I finally get there. Just in time to have peace forced upon me - with *negative* terms. What the flying frisbee? How

I haven't even tried. I played MOO2 back in the day and there were constant issues. IMHO in multiplayer a game should have a turn timer - like speed chess does. It also should have an AI that takes over if a player disconnects until the player rejoins. The other issue I recall is that every 3x game I ever played had the exact same dynamic - once a player got ahead there was nothing anyone could do to stop them. It was hours of prep to throw away

Early in the game command points are somewhat useful. The penalties for using them are a bit steep and ambiguous (are they permanent and cumulative or do they expire? Who knows, the game doesn’t tell us) By mid game the command points are essentially worthless and certainly so by late game. I have thousands of unspent command points - and literally nothing worth the time to spend them. Like seriously - 50 points given when I ‘inspire’ my scientists when t

I think I will just create one thread instead of the many for me to report bugs as I find them - which is weekly. I feel like a beta tester. I encourage other testers to report their own findings here as well; Lets make it a bit easier on that part-time gig worker who they tasked with fixing them. This week the bug is disappearing Flagships: I went through *alot* of trouble to capture The Barbed Nest, but I did. Many frigates and cruisers were lo

42.GC4Sav So this is neat - I am at 'permanent war' (a very stupid game mechanic, btw) with the Drath, but I cannot attack their planets so soon after declaring peace. Really? Come on, Brad. This is getting ridiculous. I bought the game to compete against the other players, not Stardock's poor coding. Who does the

I would like to add how messed up diplomacy and approval is. There are events - and commands which can affect these - yet there is nothing to indicate if these effects are permanent or for a duration - and if so - how long? Still more of the many bugs we compete against. I would much rather have seen these fixed than the release of the megastructures or Tales update. Neither of those really add anything to the gameplay as the improvements only take effe

Auto-Save.GC4Sav This is super-fun. The human empire opens the game by offering me peace (with a glitched dialogue - then ends the turn demanding my surrender. So yes - it is possible to declare peace and war in the same turn. Super-awesome job, team! It is why my review states that this game always has one extra oppon

This is ridiculous; I just had a fleet battle prediction of 'no casualties' - I then upgraded my three capital ships - and now the battle prediction is light casualties (which is what happened after the battle). Or, even more fun, I hover the mouse over a different battle and it says 'no casualties' but in the pre-battle screen it says 'light casualties'. Come on, really>?

Mid game when something goes sideways and I need to reload a game it is literally quicker to force-quit and reload than it is to wait for the turn end. Sometimes if I do decide to wait for the turn to finally end the game reload takes twice as long or longer than if I were to force quit. Please include some sort of 'pause' feature or something to allow a turn to be interrupted. Also - instead of blocking the VIEW of an obsolete ship design can we just delete it

Fun fact - today I watched as my pals in the Corporate sector were completely overwhelmed by the Xelosi. I decided to be a good pal and sent a fleet to their home planet - which was under siege. This gift was more than capable of destroying the invading fleet. I literally parked right next to the invaders, then gifted it. The next turn the corporate inexplicably moved the fleet to the far side of their territory, the invading fleet took their home planet, a
