https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.aspx?skinid=6427&libid=1
Oh, the Dragon Style. I already have that one downloaded. I like how the pattern came out so clean and the animation, but i'm not a big fan of the Style itself. Maybe if the designer had changed the shape of the startpanel and taskbars, i'd like it more. But it kinda just seems like a basic Vista shaped panel (except for the animation, the pattern, the start butto

When I play around with the details such as margins etc. I'm guessing blindly (adjusting something, then applying it to see what it does over and over). So when something seems to work, and the entire (let say, Start Panel) fits together, as far as I can see, it'll work with thos configs. I actually appreciate it when someone informs me that something may not work with other sizes, resolutions, etc. But along with telling me it wont work, I'd need to be
I just really want to learn. If there was a skinstudio for dummies, i'd be the first one to buy one. Actually, I think I would have beaten 'ya to it! vStyler is right. It takes time and desire. His first took him 9 months. My first took me 7 months. My second one (the one in the screenshot) has taken 2 weeks so far, and I'm nowhere near done! Really, you just need to crack into Skin Studio and PLAY! Don'

I wasn't sure but i tried going to Edit Start Menu, User Icon Background, and played with the margins but I couldn't get it to work. I also went to Edit start Menu, Top, Chose the Text tab, then played with the margins to try and move the placement of where the picture would appear. But I cant get it to work.

I'm trying to help you in the amount of time I can alott to doing it. As far as teach.. only so many hours in the day my friend and I spent 12-20 of those working. previous to that for year's I spent si

It can be done.. but its tricky and not something I'd advise for a new skinner.
Then tell me how they will. That's why I want to LEARN how each feature in SKS works so I can make a Visual Style that works. Ok, this may seem like a very stupid question, but how do you insert images in posts? I've uploaded pics to imageshack, copied the code for an image. Then on this site, i click the "insert/edit image" icon and a box appears asking for the image URL, etc. I pasted the code that I copied from imageshack and entered a description and dimensions, but I dont know what to enter in the Alignment setting, the border, vertical space, and horizontal space boxes. And when I click "Insert"

Is there some way to use a .bmp image to allow for it to have transparent parts? Or do u mean that the Start Menu popup menu only supports .bmp images (which obviously dont have transparent parts)?

ok, I opened skinstudio, went to Start Menu Popup menu. I selected Background. I decided to use/enhance the image already being used for that menu. Then I went to Layers tab (as you've suggested), added a layer, went back to images Tab. There is now no image selected image scrolldown box. and Unlike your image there are not 4 but only TWO unchecked boxes undernieth (This image has transparent parts) & (This image has an Alpha Channel). So, I checked the two boxes as you've shown. I create

I also found this helpful thread in this forum which touches on my dilemma regarding patterns and not stretching: https://forums.wincustomize.com/336492/page/1/#2020745 Its kind of hard to follow it tho.

Thanks all for your suggestions. And Thanks for the Margins overview. My thing is that I dont want my images stretched at all if possible since I want to have the freedom of creating images with patterns, textures, reflections, etc. and I dont want them distorted. It seems that stretching is ok (As in XP) if your images are solid, but like I said, I dont want to limit myself to solid images. The reason the Center option appeals to me is for that very reason. I want to create a start pane
