No solution, its crimping my playing ability. I didnt ahve the issue pre-patch.

3 is too few as the micro is extreme, but with 5-6 Akkas the strategy starts to work; you can really choke point with this as the neemy has no choice. We need something that ignores Armistice similar to how Scouts can jump thru Warp Inhibitors. By as I stated prior, should wait for full tech trees and seeing what the other races get. If they get a mind control ability that doenst count as damage and breaks armistice this strategy gets anulled. I will say this, I think
Yup this happened to me, I jumped into a system with a prev undsicovered race, shots were fired, neither side really wanted to do battle and we agreed on a Ceasefire. now I cnanot jump my ships out.
I wouldnt touch Armistice or any otehr dmg/ability aspect until we see other races abilities. Mind you I find armistice annoying altho virtually everytime its been used agasint me was caused by one of my own ships being on auto lol. Re: patient, it wasnt by choice; thats exactly why I started this thread and made this argument about soft caps; I ceased enjoying the game when I was forced into building a 300 fleet to win and it still wasnt enough. Actually worse than an MMO grin
Pretty please make a full DA version I never had the beta for DA, and with all the patches LTD it might now work. I def would liek to try your mod though.
I think Frogboy summed it up quite nicely: SO long as you have a game that works out of the box (even with occasional crashes), you can resell the box and the basic game. Stardock is being quite generous allowing them to patch to 1.1 imo. But nowhere on the box does it say you are entitled ot patches etc.; in fact most companies only do a handful of superficial bug fixes and then move on to the next project; Id say Stardock has done alot more than that and they certainly have t
The degree to which AIs get a bonus is a serious balance question imo and not simply an AI cheated issue; wont matter much how you play with the tech trees if they are getting a huge % bonus over the player. Your arguemnt doesnt work b/c this is not a compeleted game and as such, the AI has not been balanced yet. Lest you forget we are here ot test out the game to work out bugs and help balance it. Ive played numerous games in beta that had overpowered AIs b/c the AI was getting too much of a bo
*chucks a Snowball Barrage at all the above* Im the only one with a dinosaur system playing atm eh? Well so be it. AMD Athlon XP 2500+ ATI Radeon 9800 non Pro 128 MB 1 GB Corsair TwinX Dual Channel DDR 333 IDE 133 7200 RPM Maxtor HDD Playing at: 1680x1050 on Highest Detail with 4x sampling (altho I turn down to High textures and no sampling towards the end game). Game runs smooth for the most part <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/s
You can do that??? Damn wish Id known that last major game I played, I ahd to build like 40+ cap ships and leveling em all up was a pain.
Yeah its been done before, specifically Nexus The Jupiter Incident (low sales game) and Homeworld 1 and 2 (big hits). I always thought Nexus was a fantastic engine but it had no content in the form of good missions/campaigns etc. Basically it was like a bunch of programmers got otgether built a beautiful engine and never hired any content designers. sigh, I was so waiting on that B5 mod too; mebbe someone will mod this game for a B5, it would be perfect for it imo <img src="htt
Bleh I cant play Sins very long before this pops up; spose I could avoid building repair stations but he AI does it so...
Ya know Ive been noticing this since I patched to 009. My damn cap ships are always lagging ebhind and needing a second and sometiems third order. Stubborn capns!
Hehe I use Armistice on the offensive so that I can give my fleet enough time to jump in to the system (larger fleets take so long traveltime wise while the defenders are alreayd in system usually). I also use it to let me recahrge/repairs hulls and shields (on defense youc an use repair stations while the combat is stopped) and to regen fighter/bomber squads.
Your KEYBOARD has a pause button, usually next to Scroll Lock and Print Screen buttons. It activates Pause in the game.
Ok my game has crashed three times now, each time when I go to Alt-tab a grey box with a Skip, SKip All, Break options box shows up. Here is a pic
So Im sure you have all had games where the AI spawn rushed you early on. I just got out of a game (crashed before I saved ) where TWO AIs spawn rushed me simulateously - except they didnt have a Ceasefire deal lol. They had near identical fleets in orbit around my planet and blasted eahc others fleets ot pieces while my fleet took their homeworlds. I built a couple of hangars and took out their ca
My current fav is: AI Hard 20 planets 5 solar systems 7 races What are you guys plaing on?
You can use the Pause command on your keyboard to get your bearings (it pauses the game while allowing you to look around), ahve not tried issuing commands though. I agree on the Fleet management issues, I postred as much elsewhere. I do enjoy micromanaging my caps at the start, the lack of macromgmt at th eend is gaping whole.
Dude, 300 frigates and cap ships in a battle (per side) is pretty damn epic. Get to that point, play it, then repost. Or if you like I can upload a save game sometime in shortly in the future (my old saves were broken by the patch) and you can simply try it out. Also, making it so that the defining limit of ships is caused by computer hardware is not a great way to cap the number of ships. While it may be mildly entertaining to watch that number of ships on the screen, the
First let me say that this map was played under: 20 planets 5 solar systems (altered the gameplay file slightly) MEDIUM resources 6 races total (incl me) AI on Hard 9 Artifacts This is equivalent to a Small Galaxy (just with more solar systems - I like the slowdown in jumping that Long Distance causes as it makes tech tree and colnization pattern more strategic) I can understand those of you who refuse to consider a cap, in most games I argue t
Ok so I finally found some settings I like and have been pounding away at the game. Currently I am in the late stage of a game and two serious needs ahve arisen: 1.) SOME kind of cap. Its ridiculkous, I have fleets with 300+ ships and so does the AI and we are basically in a a manuf war just churning out ships at each other. I know my empire's economics can barely support this war effort and I have 6/7 of all the planets; the faction of AI I am fighting only has 3 (1 terran, 1 ast belt,
Trade: I expect trade to work as ships carrying valuable resources from trade post to trade post, generating income (credits) or additional minerals/crystals. I would generally think that Planet to Planet would be msotly about increasing credits; Asteroid field to planet trade would eb about bringing in raw resources. So Planet to Planet = generates credits, proptional to population and distance travleled between the two sites. Asteroid to Planet = generates metal/crys
Very good download speed, I finished in about 20min and it went as high as 996 KB/s (bytes not bit yes I do know the diff).
I rather like the length of battles, they are not insta kills like so many other games. And the above posters point about multiple battles is accurate; I had several fleers and battles going on at the same time last night at one point and if they were going any faster, I would ahve missed em. If you really want to speed up the battles, level up your battleship and dreadnoughts and max out their anti-capital ship abilities; 2 Battleships and a dreadnought, levled up and maxed out on anti
Overall quite nice, was very surprised at how stable and smooth the game was playing for a beta, especially on my antiquated system (AMD XP 2500+, Radeon 9800, 1GB Ram) at 1680x1050 on High textures with 4x sampling. It didnt slow down until I started putting out some very large fleets (5-6 cap ships, 12 frigates, X fighters/bombers/missle drones) Some quirks: - Camera controls; its weird and unintuitive, in part b/c my fingers have been trained into certain pathways by all the
