I wouldnt worry about the AI grabbing all the Extreme planets, it tends ot hurt them more than anythign else. Basically, those extremes ahve a reduced production value and they tend to ahve a very pwoerful drag on the AI. By the time I get the tech Im usually very close to getting the PLanetary Invasion line and then I just take the planets over - with basics indsutry intact, after the AI built it up for me lol. I tend to play on Crippling. I dunno, its a double edged sword for the AI r

Seems we have two types of players with competing interests: Micromanagers and Macromanager. The Microers want a system friendly to them wherein they can spam a type of attack and manually control where that attack is being directed in various parts. The Macroers want combined arms with intelligent formation/management options, but to do this effectively, the system needs alot of prebuilt formations, AI oversight, and inherent system checks and balances that favor requiring combined ar
How do you plan on dealing with a split planet in SoSE? SoSE planets are owned by a single faction and treated as a single entity, there is no way to cut it up to reflect the nature HT's alternatie history universe. I have the beta and Im also familiar with your subject matter, I read the whole series from the first book/series thru to the end of the second series. Im dying to see how Germany rises back up after what happened. Certainly original in terms of making a mod for an IP I don
bleh I musta gotten my threads mixed up while replying in both. My bad
Just finished my first B5 game, under 0.6 altho I am dling .61 now. All in all, very nice, it def gives the B5 feel. The invisible adds (weps/engines/etc.) def keeps the game true to form in terms of visuals altho it can be a pain designing ships as you can see what you have placed where. Couple of comments: - The Minbari battleship in my game is the Minbari War Frigate not the Sharlin class cruisers of the show. Basically Im saying you picked the wrong hull size by a factor of one
I found an odd bug whereby the texture of ships goes transparent, leaving you unable to find or see your ships on the map. Specifically, when you send a ship into a square with another ship in it, and the ships are not in a fleet yet, sometimes the resultant image on the map is blank. See Before and After screen shot for easier clarification. Before After <img src="http://i7.photobucket.c
Well, best I can do here is tell you how I like to play, I usually play at Crippling altho I can handle the AI at harder levels (I just dislike the idea of them getting so many bonuses over me). Here is a quici compilation of tips: - First, realize that everything you add onto a Colony Ship jacks up the price. The cost you see in the Shipyard screen is multiplied by 10x (I think) for Buy Now. While I eventually upgrade my propulsion on my ships, thats not the best way to do a Colony
Ok, so last night I was playing a long drawn out game of DA, I started around 6pm and was on th verge of finshing around 3am (Abundant All, Large, Crippling). However, when I went to save my game I got the dreaded "Out of Memory" error that wont permit you to save. I do not want to lose the game, it is currently running. I left it on overnight with the Program Manager up (Ctr+Alt+dlt screen); I cant seem to properly minimize it (only gives Maximize, Move, Close as options) even though I
THere are alot of interactions in the game, trying to give you a run down of the entire engine would take weeks and months. No one knows it all either (cept maybe the devs) as its not all open info. Re: only focusing on one aspect, that wont be possible. If you build a war machine you will need weapons; those weapons can and will eventually be countered by defenses on opposing ships (at higher levels anyways). This means you need to either go full steam on a weapons branch or ahve a bac
As mentioned above, using Small and Tiny Hulls for Colony ships and Constructors is cheaper than using cargo hulls. Early on it makes a HUGE difference, I can actually keep up with the AI in terms of mass colony rush on higher diffiuclty settings. In aprticular, once you get Basic Minitiurization, you should be able touse Tiny Hulls for Colony/Constructor modules. Later in the game, you can use em for Cheap Troop transports. When conquering a system of 3+ habitable planets, I u
Haha, Ive had the Invasion of the Vegans happen before. Like playing whack a mole, keep taking their planets and more pop up. Hmmm, I gotta admit I was very disappointed with the DL event in my most recent game. I was on the verge of victory, contorlling 70% of the galaxy, I had Beyond Immortality and Tech Victory under research. Then I got the DL event; fortunately one of my nely upgraded full strength end game battlefleets was nearby so I sent it in to investigate the power of th
Never seen the peacekeeper event, sounds neat especially since I tned to have very fast ships and fewer in number. Had Plagues, Jagged Knife, etc. all happen, seems fairly random to me. I never get Disease, only Plagues for some reason. Re: JK, I rarely loose any planets to it, I think it has something to do with approval (I tend to have high approval %s). I get the "Sudden burst of energy from wormhole" event just about every game though; I tend to have the highe
I am looking for the answer to this as well Current description: This Super Project will give your Military Production a big boost. The cost? Just a wafer thin slice of your soul. I recall reading somewhere it was 50% but is that empire wide or planet specific? Im going to guess planet wide as it would be silly huge if it was empire wide.
You know, I do find the idea of relating your Icon color to your background color interesting. I hate being the same colour as I ahve a hard time seeing my ships. Others have compalined; while not currently in game maybe you should consider addiing this type of feature in.
You know, even if Phase Lanes were somehow hardcoded, you could always in theory jsut create a universal network of phase lanes so that every planet connected to every other planet; this would effectively be the same thing if a true freejump solution cannot be found.
Game runs smooth on my 2500+ XP and Radeon 9800 non-Pro. Give em credit for that, I expected it to be alot worse. Anyways, the mod vid posted looks very nice. I actually own NExus and was very excited about the mods that were in dev. I just wish some of them ahd been released. The day will come when someone makes a decent B5 or ST game, altho it prob wont be in our lifetimes Good lu
*wipes sweat from brow* that file is a doozy; sorry for its length, but realize how many hours and effort i had put into that game only to not be able to save it or pload results *grrrrr*. I had the capacity to win via Influence, Tech, or Conquest easily in my graps; I finished it on Tech altho I was honestly hoping for an influence vic (Conq wouldve taken too long even with the resources I had, no more Huge for me ).
I had this exact same error and spotted the same line on his as on mine. My drivers are up to date. I was on a Huge Galaxy with Abundant all, late in the game on the verge of victory it would not let me save, neither thru Autosave,Quicksave, or any manual attempts. It would give me a Windows Popup saying Out of Memory, then a second popup would come up saving it Could not Save and to increase the Virutal memory (altho it is not using up my current page file so....?) Debug Messa
My most recent game (last night) I had this problem bad. I had a Huge galaxy with Abundant everything, couple hundred colonies. This started happening late in the game when I had 400+ ships, mostly Tiny Cosntructors, running around the place. Was VERY aggravating; I was fighting a massive Interstellar war vs Korath, and I kept noticing missing supports (troop ships and battleships) at the frontlines. When I would go back into the depths of my empire I would notice sai
Pre-patch I did notice the AI didnt seem to go after my Inter-stellar holdings, it tended ot focus on a single star system. Re: faction placement, I ahve noticed a high degree of crowding all the factions into 1-2 systems and leaving the others empty.
At higehr stages they are def worthwhile, but one other thing I was thinking of: Do the bonus production/research from these two structures cost credits or is the bonus free? Cause if so this might be a cheaper way to produce RPs and SPs.
Hmm Ive run about 25% econ with heavy research; I usually run a deficit and sell tons of old tech to the Minor races, letting them finance my empire. Granted since last patch my strategy ahs suffered to the extreme, its no longer possible to be such a research whore. Im in process of hammering out new strats, hence the post. I do like the idea of pumping out a planet that can put out 1500 BC...s WIll give a try, thnx for the advice all
Ok, so Im curious, what is the best mix for a cash production planet. I know population (farms and ent centers to keep the locals happy) helps tax rev but so do markets; trade helps the planet but requires building some indsutry and a starport. Obviously an Econ Capital is a must for your Jeweled Gold Planet. What mix would you guys do say on a PQ10? Real examples of actual built up Cash Worlds would be helpful I suppose.
Didnt know culture impacted economy, will def be testing that aspect of it. The FOW is nice too, thats one thing that always bugs me in GC2 is my borders always expand to the point I ahve no clue what the interior of my own borders look like. Least not till I build my Surevillance AWACs later in the game to bring it all under my eye.
You can move on the z-axis by holding down the ~ key and clicking where you want with the mouse; the third axis is not locked, I tested this myself. Re: the AI, the AI rarely uses the third axis altho it does sometimes. It does in fact play as if it were a 2d field. I dunno how to fix that. Most of the times Ive seen it use the 3rd axis is when the fleets are huge and there is nowehre else to put the ships to follow their orders.
